    Color rental machine recommendation?

    Hi Guys,
One of my rental customers wants to go color. I haven't done any Sharp color machines yet and I'm just wondering what a good model would be. I need a 35/45 cpm and I'm hoping to pick one or two up for about $500-600 each. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

$500 to $600 each! You're going all out. In that price range, look for a 10 year old desktop printer in need of a lot of work. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Agreed. You'll be very hard pressed to find anything decent in that price range that does color!

OK maybe a little wishful thinking on the price, but what models would you recommend for a 35cpm? On another subject, are Imagistic IM4511 and Sharp 455 developer units interchangable? Thanks again.

You are going to have to get off your wallet a bit to find what you are looking for. As Blackcat said, you can find an old dinosaur in that range but that's about it.
I highly doubt the DV units are interchangeable, but I have read crazier things on this forum.

@ the copy speeds you're inquiring about, the MX3100 seems to be a good machine for you, but good luck getting one as cheap as you were looking for... Haha

At that price range you could try these?

MX-3501n/4501n are decent, or MX-2300n/2700n for slower/cheaper. Must use good quality paper to get best results, machines coming off lease (some still available) should be gotten as fresh as possible - not having sat idle for 3 years. If you're lucky you'll only have to replace the drum PM kits. Most often though, you'll be looking at fuser rebuild, primary TX belt, secondary TX belt, etc. Production dates ranged from late 2005 through mid 2008. 600dpi copy and print, great scanners.
MX-2600/3100's are great machines but will be out of your price range for a rental.

You think you're the only cheap customer? Read a couple posts by aab1 to learn from the Champion of Cheap. The Captain of Cheap.

What exactly are you planning on doing with this MFP? Transparencies, T-shirts, 3x5 note cards, onionskin, NCR, COM10 envelopes, pre-perforated 4.75 x 11.875 cardstock water bills? 1K or 10K or 100K per month? =^..^=

Blackcat-I'm a cheap tech, not a cheap customer. I started on Sharp Sf-720s (They had a "bunny brush"), just to date me.

                          Buddy,
You should be able to locate a MX2300/2700N or MX35/4501N for a reasonable price from a wholesaler! Beware though it'll probably need every Pm part under the sun!!!!

Was that the one that had the TOASTER inside for fusing the toner? Too funny, saw one back in '86. Anyone else remember that one?

That would be the SF-726. HIGHLY advanced from the bunny brush. They also used paper

"masters" instead of a drum. It was sometimes tricky adjusting the "grippers" properly, so

they wouldn't leave a copy in the toaster...Man, am I feeling old.
