Check stapler position or stapler jam

I have an FN7 on an MX-M450N that had an F1-06. I checked everything out, but now I get this message on the display when I try to staple. They have a couple of these since it's in a hospital, so I went to another one & grabbed the whole staple unit frame section & swapped them. The non working machine doesn't work with the other unit, so I've pretty much ruled out the staple unit. I've checked the alignment with the blue dot & gear. Any ideas where else to look ?
Edit to add I'm not getting any error codes now.

Apparently you didn't check quite everything if it still's not working. (Sorry. i couldn't resist.)

The AR-FN6 finishers were a lot more troublesome, especially regarding stapling. F1-87 codes were very common.
The AR-FN7 finishers were pretty reliable. The F1-06 is slide motor trouble (I'm sure you already know that).

You can test the slide motor in simulation 3-3-6, Start to execute, System Menu to stop.
I've never experienced any problem with this motor, but it drives the stapler forward/backward. It could be something as simple as lubrication (greasing the tracks), or an obstacle in the stapler's path. The manual lists 1) repl motor M8, 2) repl finisher controller, but I don't think it will come to that.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

That's why I'm lost on this one. I get no error code. When I go into sims, I can't run anything in the finisher section. The slide motor is actually mounted on the whole staple carriage unit, which I swapped with the other machine on location. I swapped staple cartridges also. Scratching my head !
      Hope that helps !

I suppose there may be a dead short somewhere, killing one or more voltages in the finisher, but there won't be an easy way to track it down.

If the 24vdc is present at the finisher controller, it makes sense that the finisher controller or PCU PWB is defective. At finisher controller check CN1-1 (+24 vdc) to CN1-3 (ground), and CN2-1 (+24 vdc) to CN2-3 (grd). If voltages are absent, power Off and unplug finisher. If voltages return (CN20-3 to 20-2, CN20A-2 to CN20A-1) you've got a dead short somewhere. If they don't return you may have a dead power supply and a dead short, or just a dead power supply.

I've replaced a few power supplys on Tigers and Jupiters. =^..^=
