    [CQ] mxm620 black copies intermittent

I have a mxm620 that is making intermittent black copies. I know this is due to lamp not coming on and there is a tsb mod for it. The mod has already been done to this machine. I'm thinking my next step is going to be the scanner pwb. Just looking for additional input. Copier was not doing this on arrival. Tested scan lamp in Sims repeatedly with no issues.

Other possibilities for flickering lamp are:

    Cracked lamp harness
    Flickering Xenon lamp
    Cold environment
    Inverter PWB

    What's the mod? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

not really flickering, it just does not come on sometimes causing black copies. have seen this before and the mod fixed it. but its already done on this one ( either by tech or factory?)

Check your ribbon cable. Had one do this after the modification and after swapping out components realized the only thing left was the ribbon cable. Cable looked perfectly fine but would randomly put out black copies.

        Good luck.

We have one doing it also. It's close to 4 Million copies, so sales is trying to get it replaced. Cycling power seems to take care of it for a while, then it recurs.
Took me a while to figure out the lamp wasn't coming on because the customer would shut it off when it started, then it worked fine when I got there. Ours has the mods & a new inverter PWB, but that hasn't fixed it. If it was the ribbon cable, cycling power wouldn't stop it, and it would do it more frequently I would think.
Seems like it would be a ground issue, but not sure where else to go either.
          Hope that helps !

I agree. I didn't think it could be the ribbon cable either but it's a quick and cheap item to replace and if you have any ARM550 series machine in the shop you can just swap the cable.
