Nope, no wear on the drum unit housing.

Sorry guys, the customer has decided to s*&t can the copier. (It has 720,000 copies on it.) So, this issue will have to remain a mystery.

As always, thanks for all your input and ideas on this!

Kudos for not giving up. Means a lot in this business.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Well, apparently Sharp is putting out defective developer units. Just went out to a different machine that I replaced the developer unit in. SAME PROBLEM. Put a brand new DV unit in about two weeks ago and this one has the same wear marks on the mag roller.

I might also note; These three DV units felt a little gritty when I turned them without developer in them, not the usual smoothness.

Perhaps the doctor blade is set too tightly? Have you checked the doctor blade height? It should be 0.45mm (plenty of clearance). =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Good thought Blackcat. No, I didn't check them. Never had to from the factory. Definitely worth a look. Thanks

check the doctor blade gap I've had several where one side was off. The gap is .45 and the adjustment is in service manual

Yup, the doctor gap was off on the one side. Adjusted it and haven't heard back, but I still think there was something wrong with a batch of units. They just felt gritty when I turned the mag roller BEFORE I put dev in. I received a warranty replacement from Sharp and it felt nice and smooth like they always have in the past.

Thanks to Dingo and Blackcat, and everyone else! As always, this site is a life saver.
