Hello all I have a Toshiba E studio 506 that is stuck on checking system. Please do not power off the machine. It does not go any further than that. I'm thinking HDD any help is greatly appreciated.

Format the HDD 08-690 , reload the firmware. Perform 08-1119. If this does not work, replace the HDD and reload the firmware. -

Just follow the procedure in the manual for a HDD replacement (but using the old HDD). If it fails, replace the HDD and try again. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
