[Dead] toshiba 3508 no boot / powerup failure

hello! just got a call from client that on powerup the machine goes to 2/9 booting steps then reboots, again 2/9 and reboot. cannot acess any mode for update, 08 menu etc. swapped memory ram and hdd but no help. any clues / leads?

I would say to start with the electrical troubleshooting guide ...but Toshiba seems to not have one for that series, not one I can find anyway.

But I would start by doing something similar to the previous guides...unplug just about everything and try to isolate.

Get out the volt meter and start pinning out the power supply.
This is most likely your cause.

Not "posting" past the system board. Can you get into FS mode?
If so, can you get into HS mode? If not, something scrambled handing off
from system to logic.

Try with the doors open, drum/ dev removed, and fuser removed.
Main charge short will cause similar.
But in the end high chances of Sys board

thanks for the aswers. i have a same model donor machine in service. swapped power supply and HV board, tried with all consumables out of the machine ( iu + fuser) and all doors open. nothing changed. i cant get neither hs or fs mode. now i will swap boards and will see from there. thanks!

Have you looked at the power from the wall and the power cord ?

Its time to change system board otherwise you need to update firmware with "ROM Recovery" . Few days ago i solved this kind of problem

In fact most of my such no boot/dead machine cases are due to faulty main board. Unlike old days when power supply boards failed a lot. I mean 90% and up.

I guess I am biased as in 2 years on Toshiba, both my non-booting machines have been power supply failures. But I cant wait for my first main board failure....yay!

I must apologies and admit I no longer work on Toshy more than 10 years. All the best to you and let your sail with this brand will be calm.

coming back again with solution. unfortunately the sys board is fried. thanks all for the help!
