    MJ-1112 movable tray issue

Tech had a call on an MJ-1112. Customer said the movable tray slammed to the bottom. Raising it up manually
just caused it to drop again. When tech was on sight, he noticed metal shavings around the back. Upon further inspection
he found the 6LK57402000 Worm-Wheel-10-6-Tray-T slightly impacted. But the real killer was the
brass gear 6LK59421000 Worm-Gear-Tray-RBT3-PBF which was chewed up. Being a metal gear I figured it
would be worn more than the plastic gear. Tech said he found no indication of the gears not being aligned
properly. Not sure what chewed them up.

That's impressive. It's really common to see these gears damaged on Konica Minolta finishers ... but I don't think that I've ever seen it on the Toshibas. The KM gears are Delrin, and they split or shatter ... never wear. I don't see any sign of grease ... maybe they did not get the customary dab of grease at the factory, or it was misguidedly cleaned off.

    Thanks for sharing. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
