The lower seal on the dv unit is missing, so I don't have a reference to install one of my two remaining new seals. I incorrectly installed the lower seal and it took most of the developer off of the mag roller and dumped it throughout the machine, plus the seal was ruined. So how do I install the lower replacement, because the upper and lower replacements don't resemble the original mylar seals. Thanks in advance.

All of these I had ended up wearing out the lower seal. We usually just removed it and left it out with no further trouble. I checked the manuals, can't find a spec or instructions for replacement position. I'll look further when I have a little more time and see if I can find more. Good luck.GO TIGERS!!

Usually what we saw was the seal starting to wear and pile developer up on one end of the mag roller, which then tracks through the machine, including that side of the fuser. This can also happen if the roller is rotated backwards during service or developer material change. At that point we usually just removed the seal and ran without it. Didn't seem to cause the unit to run any dirtier. Most of the older Tos that we service rarely get the full life out of the fuser rollers. We normally end up having to change them about 1/2 life, when we do "mini pm's"... about the time that we have to change cleaning rollers, etc. There have been exceptions, though, but usually those are the machines that are running close to the max monthly volume. Yeah, I've been through and to Novi. A lot busier down there than it is up here. About the time I start to miss living in the big city, we take a trip down there or Grand Rapids... fixes me up for another 6 months.GO TIGERS!!

Make sure you get all the develpoer off the HVT under the transport unit or you will be doing this all over again. The developer on the HVT will cause the developer unit to dump all of the remaining developer into the HVT.sigpic No! we never do that with the copier.Comment

leave the seal off,as for as fuser remove the fuser cleaning blade and leave of-also inspect the drum ground at fram-= this machine getting old and a broke drum ground terminal will cause dev pull. only have a few left in field and none have the dev seal or fuser cleaning blade. all have home made drum ground straps.Comment

Thanks Boogotshot! I didn't know what would happen exactly, but I knew that developer on the HVT couldn't be good.
And thank you too, jpcopy. I was already leaning toward leaving the lower seal off when dbrownlee suggested that.
Thank you both ever so much for your support.Where there is no prophetic vision, the people perish.Comment
