    [CQ] E-Studio 3511

Never have even touched a Toshiba in 32 years of copier service. A Mom and Pop print shop asked me if I could help them. Their E-Studio 3511 has light copies on the outboard 3" of the copy. Platen open sky shot has even density. WaLa, you know it is probably between laser and drum. Read on post from 1-16-2010 clean b4 glass but care and experience is needed. Well I got the care but need the experience (LOL), how about walking me through whatever probably needs to be cleaned. I hate RICOH!!!!

The TransBelt and drum unit are seperate parts. When you take the front panels off behind the front cover take out all the blue screws. Loosen two captive screws which are silver and inset into the metal frame a bit. One blue screw is holding a lever in place. This lever raises the transfer belt so the drum can come out. It should raise fairly easy so if it feels stuck you don't have all the right screws out. Watch the DV unit. It can stay in but there is a white knob infront of it; rotate this knob so the DV unit is lowered all the way.

To clean the slit glass just "follow" the above and pull the drum/cleaner unit out. Also this time of year with low humidity clean out the charge corona, they arc bad and get a lot of dust / toner in them. You might have to take two screws loose (one big one small) on the LED erase lamp assy. after you get the drum assy out. Then you can move it out of the way and clean the slit glass really good. You might be able to get cloth on a spring hook or the like and clean it without loosening the erase assy. The erase assy is trick to get back in but a little fiddling will do it.

These machines are pretty horrible. They dust toner constantly and the quality is never really that good. A good cleaning is about all that it's worth honestly. There are two sensors above the revolver unit. Take the copy exit cover off and clean them out good. One comes off with 2 screws and is mounted on a plate with a selonoid the other is one screw and is a reflective type that senses the color toner cartridges. Run 05-395 and the calibrations under User Functions > admin > general > calibration > (print and copy) after you get done and that's about as good as it gets without parts.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.
