    LJ4250 with 13.02 errors

Jams occur maybe every 20 pages or so from tray 2. I changed maintenance kit but still occurring. Could this have something to do
with tray 2 solenoid. Usually when it happens there are 2 sheets jammed with trailing sheet under cartridge. Frank

More than likely, yes, the solenoid needs to be re-padded.

Thank you Lance. I don't remember if there was print on the trailing sheet or not. I saw it happen twice but it was 24 lb
that customer put thru tray 2 and I told her to use tray 1 for that. Then she called and said it was happening now also with 20lb. Frank

anytime i work on a 42/43 series i repad the selenoid and also scrape the old foam off the exit fingers. should i wait for it to fail and get another service call out of it???

probably, but that's why i'll never get rich in this business.

Well if I did that I would never be able to feed my family.

I usually make that part of "the works".

                Fuser
                Swing Plate
                Rollers
Clean the now sticky foam pads off of the registration assembly & exit bin sensor flags
                Re-pad solenoid(s)

24# is fine for Tray 2 ... it can handle up to 32#.... the problem, like Lance said is the solenoid

                    What do you repad with?

I started using the command strips, then, I bought a roll of double sided velcro (the "fuzzy" side only) from Amazon, but, electrical tape works too. Anything that makes the solenoid's metal flap not stick to the magnet will work. Whatever works best for you.

I never repad. I bend the metal so that the plate doesn't come so close to the magnet.

i use 2 layers of electrical tape, super-glued on one at a time. was originally using one layer, but that caused problems as it wasn't thick enough. goes without saying you need to let the glue dry before putting it back in.

i use the glue because the e-tape eventually will lose its adhesive properties and fall off. i've been using this method over 3 years on all model hp's that have the problem and haven't had a call back.

yeah you might as well clean the exit fingers since you have to have the lid off to get to the solenoid... use a towel with rubbing alcohol on it to clean the finger and the solenoid where the plate hits..also clean the plate ... I also throw some tape on the area where the exit fingers hit the lid.
