I've align these carousels before, but I don't have a nice technical description of the operation.

It may not be necessary to do it this way, but I removed the laser/top frame to get full view of the carousel. It's relatively easy to jump the gears along the right side of the carousel to get the slots to line up.

If there's an easier way to do this I'd like to hear about it. =^..^=

  • CLJ 2500 - Caurosel not aligning for dev unit install

    Hi All,

I'm working on a CLJ 2500 that has an alignment issue with the caurosel not aligning the groves with the top cover, thus not allowing me to input the toner cartridges.

I seems to align fine for the yellow and black cartridges however it just doesnt do it for the magenta and cyan.

I've had the machine apart and have watched the caurosel turn and i've noticed that the solenoid does kick in at the right time, with the arm of the solenoid hitting the notch in what i would call a cam or gear? however it tends to slip as oppose to release and allow that one extra turn before the arm on the solenoid is able to hook into the 2nd notch (which is located immediately after the first). Because of this extra turn, the groves do not line up.

I have manually released the solenoid so i can put in the developer units however because the magenta and yellow units do not line up, the machine is failing to print the two colours (must have something to do with the e-label) - althought i does detect all four units in the machine.

I'm thinking of replacing the solenoid first (as it will probably be the cheapest and easiest to replace) however if you have any other thoughts or experience with the problem, then please let me know. thanks in advance.
