    [Jamming] HP 9200c Scanner Jam

    Hi all.
Have a HP 9200C scanner that will constantly jam when feeding paper.Feeder will pull the paper in and stop with the leading edge 1-2 in ion the glass.Cleaned all the sensors and rollers. My feeling is one of the sensors is goofy.Any advice would be much appreciated
I know copiers and printers. This is my first HP9200 scanner..

      check this out: ADF jam
ADF jams can occur in three places inside the ADF.
      Registration-sensor jam
If the registration sensor does not detect the trailing edge of the media after the leading edge
reaches the scan-ready position, the scanner-controller board determines that an ADF jam has
      occurred.
Also, when the scanner duplexer is in use, if the registration sensor does not detect the leading edge
of the media after a specific period of time after media enters the duplexer, the scanner-controller
board determines that an ADF jam has occurred.
      Read-sensor jam
If the read sensor does not detect the leading edge of the media within a specific period of time, or if
the read sensor does not detect the trailing edge of the media within a specific period of time after it
detects the leading edge, the scanner-controller board determines that an ADF jam has occurred.
      Exit-sensor jam
If the exit sensor does not detect the leading edge of the media within a specific period of time after
the leading edge reaches the read sensor, or if the exit sensor does not detect the trailing edge of
the media within a specific period of time after the read sensor detects the trailing edge, the scannercontroller
board determines that an ADF jam has occurred.

if that dosent halp you out try this:
        Scanner tests
The following diagnostic tests are available for the scanner. They can be found in the
        DIAGNOSTICS
        menu on the control panel.

Lower lamp-This test turns on the lamp and a “Lower Lamp (scanner) is on” message appears
on the control panel. The user must verify that the lamp is on.

Sensors-This tests the ADF Empty, Register, ADF Jam Cover, ADF Output Bin Full, and Flatbed
Cover Open sensors. The user must manually activate the sensors to verify them.

ADF input motor-This test turns on the ADF input motor and a “ADF Input Motor is on” message
appears on the control panel. The user must verify that the motor is on.

ADF input reverse-This test turns on the ADF input motor and a “ADF Input Motor is on”
message appears on the control panel. The user must verify that the motor is on.

Flatbed motor-This test turns on the flatbed motor and a “ADF Output Motor is on” message
appears on the control panel. The user must verify that the motor is on.

ADF read motor-This test turns on the ADF read motor and a “ADF Read Motor is on” message
appears on the control panel. The user must verify that the motor is on.

ADF read motor reverse-This test turns on the ADF read motor and a “ADF Read Motor is on”
message appears on the control panel. The user must verify that the motor is on.

        ADF duplex solenoid

        ADF LED indicator

manualy check the sensors if they are working, you can stick a flat head screw driver in the middle of the sensor, check the screen to see if the message changes with ever sensor.

Is the paper coming out on to the flatbed glass? If it is the clear mylar sheet is installed incorrectly or missing, this is hp version of slit glass or scan glass.

The lead edge of the org will feed about 2 inches onto the scanner glass. It stops every time in the same place. It does not matter if your feeding single or multiple sheets.

              Thanks

                mylar sheet replacement.pdf

see the attached doc, When you lift up the doc feeder the paper is hanging out the bottom ? The mylar sheet when it is installed correctly (if it is even there) makes the org go around the white guide to exit to the " exit area of the doc feeder" , Usually what happens is the customer either removes a jam from that area or replaces the mylar sheet and they don't tuck the mylar sheet back into the guide correctly and the org comes out on the glass. Common call for the digital senders and some of HP's mfps like the 4345mfp. Most of the issues with the digital senders I have come across are feed rollers , sep pad
(these wear out fast) and scan to folder or email.

I agree with faxman28. This is normally a mylar issue.

You were right on the money.the mylar sheet was missing. This was the first H.P. scanner I played with and I am surprised how flimsy and easy the mylar is to remove! I would have thought it would be beefier (good if per call bad if contract)
                    Thanks again for the help!
