HP Color lasr jet 2600/ Quality

    Hi.
machine is periodically printing image from previos copy on next copy(not whole copy but usually a few lines in one area and image is faint). The weird thing is Ive only noticed it with the black print, not with the colors.I put new oem cartridge in and problem is still there.beside this ,quality is excellent. any ideas as to what will cause this problem. I thought maybe fuser unit, but why would I have this problem only with black.so I havnt ordered a fuser unit yet.Any help and imput is appreciated.
    Thanks Andy

The fuser was my first choice Andy. Of course you know there are three places that a color machine can retain images from previous prints:
    1) drum cleaning
    2) transfer belt cleaning
    3) fuser

For #1 the color of the repeated image will match the drum/cartridge color.
#2 will present repeated images in full color or that lovely brown color you get with all colors combined.
#3 will present in full color or brown.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Black cartridge --- cartridge contacts on the cartridge and in the machine
Fuser ---- LVPS ---- dc controller

OEM cartridge could be bad, it's happened to me before. Could also be high voltage but extremely unlikely.

If you know the fuser is good, it rules out bad heat element and bad thermistor. Low voltage power supply supplies power for the heating element. If you don't get enough, ghost image can occur. dc controller regulates the temperature of the fuser via the thermistor. Makes a comparison between what is sent and received and adjusts the temperature accordingly. More likely to be LVPS than dc controller.

Unlikely to be transfer belt, as it is one color that is affected.

Usually fading print is the major problem with this machine, I haven't seen your problem with this machine.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".

Turned out to be fuser as was suggested(When I calleed cust back to make sure of symptom,I asked are they sure it only happens with black cartridge, and they said someone in office told them they had seen with color copies also the problem. I oredered fuser and problem solved. Thank you

              HI,
The weird thing was I would get 80% of the copies coming out OK.When I took fuser out to replace you could definitely see the wear on the film you usually do when fuser gives you marking. It would not be through whole page even though entire circumference of film had wear marks in area of page markings Thanks for your imput,it solved my problem.

I've seen similar effects on HP CLJ4600N. The film is obviously worn, but only affects a small percentage of the prints.
                Again, congratulations. =^..^=
