    MX421 with broken Start Button

    Hello,

I have a Mx421 with a broken Start button. The switch on the panel board is broken.
Could I use the operation panel from another used machine?
I've read somewhere that you can't do this with Lexmark machines.

    Thank you.

From everything I have been told you can't. I have never tried to swap pwbs in Lexmarks to see what will happen.

If you can leave a loaner you might try on of these tact switches from DigiKey:

    EVQ-P9W02M
    EVQ-P9102W
    EVQ-P9102M
    TL6330AF200Q
    EVQ-P2602W

    .068 vs. $123.72

These are surface mount and not easy to replace.

The Op Panel on Lexmark's hold critical printer information. Can't replace with a used or refurbished. Must be new so the information can be copied from the systemboard/mainboard (DC Controller).

A smart designer would have split the part of the pwb with the keyswitches from the LCD diplay. Very stupid design and I think most if not all new Lexmarks are made this way.

i totally agree with lance on this one. if you don't follow the service manual you can basically brick the copier. good luck!
