[Misc] Ricoh locked print read error ERR:

Hi just need an assist with the locked print as user complain that it was slow this morning.
Then when i prin out the system log page it says:

diprintd(178) read error ERR: ("Appear 10x)

What is the issue?
is the the file having problem or is it the harddisk of the ricoh machine?

Check the driver is installed via IP not WSD.

And update the firmware.

I have not done much. Bec client complaint that printing is slow and when I arrived at the site location, it was ok already. I was afraid it's harddisk problem.

troubleshooting done:
- connect directly to copier using network cable and test print ok.
- ping test to copier - ok.

Seeing how locked print jobs are stored on the hard drive, it sounds like a hard drive problem.

Reformat it first, then replace it if the problem persists.

Very doubtful that it’s a driver issue.

Hi Done replacement.

Now another problem happens.
sending print jobs to the machine is kinda abit slow. User are using locked print. if the files is 5mb...it caused traffic to the printing.

Have you tried to print with different PCs connected to the Ricoh printer (model ??) Follow Copier tech's advice regarding the ip address and fw update. Have you installed the pcl6 driver? Keep in mind that pdf files weigh on printing speed especially on old machines.

I don't know if their "type" driver for Ricoh offers locked print.

yup, they are using ricoh pcl6 universal driver.

That could be your problem. Try using the latest non universal PCL6 or PCL5 driver. Universal drivers were original intended only for use when doing pooled printers of different makes and/or models. Pooled printers have to all be using the same driver. Universal drivers made that possible. Ricoh used to put that information on their download page.
