    Konica Minolta C558 Color Issue

    Hi All

I am hoping someone can help me out with a Konica Minolta C558 color issue. I been struggle trying to get an idea the cause of this device. Attached is an image with line when printing. What I have done so far to try to troubleshoot the issue are 1) Do half tone test using 80 and 255 density to identify which drum/dv are the factor. 2) Replace the suspected issue Magenta DV 3) Replace Transfer Belt.

Looks more like a cyan issue to me.

Have you cleaned the print head glasses using the tool in the front door.

Also if you could post the halftone test prints at 125 density, that would help.

looks like a black issue to me.
all 4 gradation patterns will reveal all.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
      The medication helps though...

If cleaning with the wand improves image but not completely you will need to pull laser out of machine and clean the glasses on top of it. Just do not take laser unit apart. I agree with others it would help to see half tones of each color. I had one recently that was leaving a light line in cyan but only in extremely light density. I had to set the density on test chart to 40 before the light streak would show. I pulled laser cleaned the glasses and it resolved the problem

Put a lot of IPA on the wand and go at it, usually works for me, sometimes I use window clean. Easier than taking it apart. Also transportbelt might be an issue, not always the conductors.

Wouldn't IPA unstick cleaning pad from the wand?

And here I come leaning towards a yellow or magenta problem. Orange is created by mixing M & Y and the orange letters at the top show this defect. The bold black line is solid right below the letters across the entire page. The conveyor belt frame also has the lines going through it while the black conveyor belt itself is solid, again leading me to yellow or magenta.
Print this file portrait and landscape and see what you get.

Pull out each drum unit and check the charge roller or charge cleaning roller if its breaking apart or soiled then change that unit.

Looks like M drum is shot.

Keep in mind K/M copiers are marketed as "business" color. Agree the print quality has gone down with every model since the CF3102 which produced one of the best color prints I've ever seen from a copier, and that was 20+ years ago!

I think the diminished quality has a lot to do with changes in toner over the years. Most of these changes with toner have to do with green energy like lower melting point which fusers don't have to be as hot which saves energy, faster warm up & first page out times.
