Well, it's called job security. You can justify your time in doing your repair when you show the booss the repair procedure.

The new kyocera lineup are most techs dream machines, but is a job killer. Even with the high speed models, the pm is not more that 10 minutes. You can remove drum and dev individually without removing transfer belt, feed tire unit just a clip and pulls out, fuser clip on style ect. If this is the future of machine builds, then you will have to have multiple skillset, may be a plumber or something on the sideline. welcome to the future.

This is the ADF pickup roller assy for the Lexmark xm3150. Just thought i would share a bit of how it works and a kinda heads up for anyone thinking of servicing or lubing the one ways. The red markings is where the one way bearings are and the photo shows how the inside is and how it works. There are five loose ball bearings that moves on the hub in a typical one way bearing fashion. A tech brought this adf in the shop after he said it was jamming all the time, i tested it and sure it was. All the rollers were good and narrow it down to the adf as i had tested with an old one i had and it worked. I disassembled the thing only to find ball bearings in the one way race and because someone had oiled the sh*t out of it, it was not functioning the way it should. Bottom line, this should not be lubed at all, as the bearings need to be moved freely in the race. In fact, if you spin the rollers with your hands you would hear the bearings rattling in there. For the most part they work good and never had to repair them , but as in this case tech error. [ I cleaned the oil off and reassembled and it worked fine, no jams ]
I did not show the bearings, but the hubs are posted. the one with the rubber has a kind of saw tooth rib inside and the race for the bearing is what is shown on the other. This is a very good example of how a one way works and one that could be disassembled and examined.
Forgot to mention, the ball bearings are not captive in the race, so when you are disassembling, make sure you have something underneath to catch the balls, as they will run like wild hogs when dropped.

I think that's what diasbled the feed units I worked on. They had been oiled. Typically you hear the loose ball bearings rattling around, and yes, they'll roll away given half a chance. I gave up on getting one reassembled, having already lost several of the bearings. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

That's why you save remaining ball bearings for the one-way bearing that maybe missing only one.

Actually ,that unit does not need to be disassembled, as it is simple enough that no parts need to be changed. Spraying some alcohol between the hubs should be sufficient. The unit is cheap enough too and is replaced as a whole unit. No need to keep extra balls or pay attention if you decide to poke around.

I'll grant you that replacing the unit is the best bet, but if you're hours away without a spare part, and the oneway has a missing ball bearing-if you had one would you use it or have the customer use the glass for copies?

It looks like a little blue pill might help there.
