In May 2021, CBP encountered 180,034 persons attempting entry along the Southwest Border. This total represented a 1 percent increase over April 2021.

Single adults continue to make up the majority of these encounters. In May 2021, CBP expelled 112,302 individuals under Title 42. CBP continues to expel single adults and family units that are encountered pursuant to CDC guidance under Title 42 authority. 62 percent of all May encounters resulted in a Title 42 expulsion.

Encounters along the Southwest Border of unaccompanied children and single minors from Northern Triangle countries dropped again this month by 23 percent, with 10,765 encounters in May 2021 compared with 13,940 in April 2021. Encounters of family units from Northern Triangle countries also dropped again, decreasing by 31 percent to 22,630 in May 2021, down from 32,674 in April.

The large number of expulsions during the pandemic has contributed to a larger-than-usual number of noncitizens making multiple border crossing attempts, and means total encounters somewhat overstate the number of unique individuals arriving at the border. Thirty-eight percent of encounters in May 2021 were individuals who had at least one prior encounter in the previous 12 months, compared to an average one-year re-encounter rate of 15 percent for Fiscal Years 2014-2019.

RNC paid Trump’s Mar-a-Lago over $175,000 for donor retreat

The Republican National Committee paid just over $175,000 to former President Donald Trump’s private club to host part of its spring donor retreat.

Federal Election Commission filings show that the six-figure sum was paid in May to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago, a month after the April donor event at the private club in Palm Beach, Florida. A Republican National Committee spokeswoman confirmed that more than $175,000 was, in fact, for the meeting. The new RNC filing describes the payment to Mar-a-Lago as fees for “venue rental and catering.”

Part of the RNC sponsored-event that month was held at Mar-a-Lago, where the former president took aim at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. NBC News reported at the time that Trump called McConnell a “dumb son of a b----” and a “stone-cold loser.” The other portion of the retreat took place at the Four Seasons in Palm Beach.

“I think it’s the same phenomenon as when he did this while in government, grifting."

The fact that they’re still willing to pay him shows their commitment to meeting his demands for enrichment,” Shaub said.

“That sends a message that they won’t be demanding he clean up his act. To the contrary, it says they are fully complicit in his monetizing his political activities.”

That sounds about right, though possibly a little below what they might have had to pay at some other major resort hotel complex. Those places are not cheap. And payment in arrears is also very common for political events. In fact there are numerous former politicians who still have not paid off their debt from their last campaign. Also I do not see any difference from the when the Democrats used to party at the Kennedy Compound on Cape Cod Ted was a Senator.

Trump Organization sues NYC after golf course contract canceled in wake of Capitol attack


The Trump Organization on Monday sued the city of New York after it ended its contract for a golf course at Ferry Point Park in the wake of the attack on the US Capitol on January 6.

In a lawsuit filed in state court in Manhattan, the company alleged wrongful termination of the contract in mid-January, saying the city and Mayor Bill de Blasio had "denounced President (Donald) Trump in the most inflammatory terms" and "incited others to terminate business with Trump-related entities" the day after the riot.

A spokesman for the city law department said Monday that "the actions of Mr. Trump to incite a deadly riot at the Capitol on January 6th caused a breach of the Ferry Point contract by eliminating options for hosting championship events and we will vigorously defend the City's decision to terminate the contract."

"The City properly followed the termination process detailed in the contract and we look forward to selecting a new vendor for Ferry Point that will further the best interests of New Yorkers," the spokesman said.

The mayor's spokesman, Bill Neidhardt, added on Twitter: "Donald Trump directly incited a deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. You do that, and you lose the privilege of doing business with the City of New York. It's as simple as that."

New York City had joined a raft of private businesses when it moved in January to terminate its business relationships with the Trump Organization in response to the then-President's actions on January 6. They include two of his banks, Deutsche Bank and Signature Bank, credit card processor Stripe, Shopify and the PGA of America, which announced it was pulling a major golf tournament from one of Trump's courses.

CRP data also shows that during the 2020 election cycle, the RNC paid Trump properties over $1 million to host political events.

Mar-a-Lago has seen over $1 million spent on it by Republican led groups since 2016.
