    Re: The War in Ukraine

This thread is called " The War in Ukraine" and not which party in the US is better !!
Neither the current nor the previous President are competent.
They're just old dumb idiots who talk a lot and can't do anything.
It's about Ukraine, not the US.
Probably a large part does not even know exactly where this country is located.

It is the largest country entirely within Europe. It borders on the north and east with Russia. The Black Sea and the Sea of Azov are part of its southern border. Most of its western border is with Poland.

During WWII Kyiv was one of the cities where the Red Army was able to stop the NAZI army's invasion on the Soviet Union.

I wonder how many know about Malaysia Flight 17 on July 17, 2014. It was a civilian airline shot down by Putin backed Ukraine separatists using a Russian provided SA 11 Surface to Air missile system.

I've been rolling through threads on reddit under Combat Footage and plenty of the commenters there call the Chechen troops the Tik Tok Battalion...since that seems to be all they do. There's a video there where they took turns running out from behind a vehicle shooting whatever gun they had.

... 100% chance both the Russian and Ukrainian armies are using this very vehicle against each other today.

The Ukrainian army is very good at recovering abandoned Russian equipment, refurbishing them and re-badge them.

Ex-Trump official praises Biden for uniting the West against Putin

Former Trump national security adviser H.R. McMaster said Russian President Vladimir Putin has been caught off guard by the West’s united front deploying tough sanctions in response to the invasion of Ukraine — and that the Biden administration deserves credit for helping foster that unity.

“Putin perceived weakness and disunity,” McMaster, a retired Army lieutenant general, said in a phone interview. “But what he got instead was an extremely high degree of unity.”

Sanctions levied on Russia have left the country’s economy in tatters. The ruble is barely worth a penny, the Russian stock market has been shut for a month and Moscow is at risk of its first international default in more than a century.

“The Biden administration needs credit for the degree with which they fostered international unity against Russia, especially in economic and diplomatic realms,” said McMaster, now a senior fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution.

The former Trump official called for Republicans and Democrats to come together to address Russia’s aggression.

“There should be no partisan divide on Ukraine. Nobody should use Ukraine to score partisan points,” McMaster said.

McMaster stressed that a bipartisan approach is crucial for the present moment, and that there will be time down the line for debate about why deterrence failed to stop Putin from invading in the first place.

Looking ahead McMaster called for the United States to step up its support for Ukraine, including by providing more drones, missiles and other military capabilities.
