The Miles (km's) we rack up.

We all drive tons..We're all Road Warriors... My current ride, a 2001 VW GTI VR6 drives like a go-cart on steroids. Just clocked 218,000 miles today. We Road Warriors squeeze every mile out of a car you can. Some folks brag about how few miles are on their odometer, not me. I had a lovely 1980 BMW 320 that went to 413,000 miles before the rear axle snapped. And I bought a 1974 BMW 2002 that had over 200K on it, and sold it for $50 with 685,000 on the odometer. Of course it needed tinkering at every start-up towards the end. Tell us about the rides you drove into the dirt.

Driving a 2003 Neon currently at 287000 miles. Getting ready to put control arm bushings in. It really helps when your brother in law is a mechanic. Had a 1998 neon that went to 210000. Gave it to my nephew(the mechanics son) as he was getting his license. He trashed it. Before that it was a 1994 Dodge Shadow. Got rid of that at 170000. Probably should have kept it longer since it was still going. Can you tell my brother in law is a Dodge mechanic? He swears we can get this to 400000. I say if we can get it there, then we can get it to 500000. Wishful thinking. I'll probably be shopping in the spring once I hit 300000.

Bought a Dodge Intrepid brand new in March of '99, and traded it in with 213k in December of '03.

Not that many miles for any decent car, but quite an accomplishment for the major piece o' crap it was.

My first Jetta ('87) was retired at 385,000 km, second Jetta ('92) retired at 412,000 km, neither was dead just time to sell. My current ride is an '02 Corrola with 314,000 km. The VW's were a PITA and the Toyota has been great.

I never drive a car pass 100,000 miles on the odometer, never did and never will. My image is very important to me, besides I make good allowance to afford a good ride. I am ashamed at the way some Technicians carry themselves, looks dirty and drives crap that breaks down all over the place, they gave us good Technicians a bad name.
You want to make good money in this business and be treated with respect then ditch the crap.

Back in the day when I was out in the field, I used to drive 500 miles a week when I was working for Unisys, then on Friday nights I drove from Philly to Long Island NY to see my girlfriend, leave Sunday night or early Monday morning and do it all over again.
I did that for 1.5 years till I moved in with her. Now we're in Vegas. No driving necessary for my websites.

I drive a 2005 chevy colorado with 230k on it. Only needed a waterpump and oil changes. Now it needs shocks/struts. Still runs great.

                I drive VW Caddy 2004.
It has 200,000 km, and can bet that will drive double more.

I've gone through 4 Ford Festiva's, 2 Ford Escort Wagons, 2 Kias (the worst of the whole batch), an Astro van (345K miles), and last & best, the Scion Xb (120K with nothing but tires & brakes). I've averaged 48K miles per year since 2000. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Knocked up over 1.5 million Km in 3 Ford Lasers (local version of the Mazda 323) in 20 years.
Lost count of the tyres, CV joints and windscreens I fed them over the years. Daren't add up the petrol bill as I'd start to weep and wonder why the mortgage didn't get paid off years ago.

got a 1990 honda concerto with 70k miles on the clock, living on an island 9 x 5 miles you dont get to drive very far, only time it gets driven is when i go to france, love the motorways, speed limit here 40 mph, dont use a vehicle much for work, 99% of customers are no more than 10 min walk, no need to carry parts, i walk back to the office for whatever ineed
Tip for the day; Treat every problem as your dog would.....If you cant eat it or f*ck it....then p*ss on it & walk away...

The jeep cherokee I used for years as a service ride is at about 220K. My wife drives it now. Iv'e had my Chevy HHR for three years now and it has 140K on it. I have to admit after all these years at it I'm a little tired of that much driving.

Not many. Since I've only got my driver's licence for almost 3 years, I've only driven around 150.000km/93.000 miles on all cars I've driven so far.

^ Im assuming your young then? Im only 23 myself. I have been using my personal car for years. Last company I had a new Chevy Cobalt SS/SC. Fastest copier repair tech in the state of Missouri I always said. It was my favorite car. Huge trunk for a 2 door. 30+ mpg with the mods I had (smaller supercharge pulley, intake, quite exhaust), but used permium gas. Only complaint was the premium gas and tires for 18in factory rims. In the 4 years I owned it I put 120k on her befor I traded it in. Now I drive an even more expensive car but at least its a 4 door. 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer evo (FQ320). The all wheel drive is nice right now for the snow but I get terrrrrrrrrrible gas milage. Only like 14 city. Plus I absolutly hate putting miles on it. Rear seats dont fold down and the trunk cant even fit a set of golf clubs in it. Our company is about to upgrade all the tech vehicles to get the high milage Chevy Aveos out.
