The UN is a bad joke with it's own corruption and world agenda. If you want to believe in the UN, then perhaps Canada would be willing to be it's bitch and host it's headquarters and diplomats and foot the bill the US has been covering. And then have the UN tell you how to run your country!!!

I won't ask you about politicians. They are all professional liars. No matter which side of the fence they are on.
Politicians and weathermen, two of the only professions where you don't have to tell the truth and you can still keep your job. And I put more trust in weathermen. lol

Since the newly proposed bill didn't pas through the Senate, I watched the debates over it during the Senate session. A few points of some Senators said was absolute fake and sad that they would even try to defend what they were speaking about. It isn't a mystery that they are being influenced by lobbyists and are afraid to go aginst them. (The NRA is gaining too much control over this.)

I, for one, am glad that the one older woman made the outburst in the session. If senators can make up stuff like that, then people definitely have a right to voice their opinions directly to those responsible.

The question is should guns and ammo be subjected to a SIN tax like alcohol and tobacco? Guns and ammo are equally as deadly as alcohol/tobacco in the USA and require substantial amounts of Federal, State and Municipal budgets to manage.

The answer is, in the current political climate, this is very unlikely to happen.

The next answer is as more and more Federal, State and Municipal budgets spiral out of control, expect the question to rebound sometime this year as politicians begin to rationalize that guns owners (legal/ illegal) need to pay their fair share of the costs of gun ownership.

Guns and ammo are as deadly as alcohol and tobacco? Show your math.

The problem is there are no stats recorded for attacks detered by private citizens with firearms. If you can find some let me know otherwise public policy cannot be determined based upon unsubstantiated statements.

That story servicesalesguy was someting I listened too on the radio. Not sure what paper it was in. I think it was from our state in Spokane, Washington but not sure. But I do hear about these things often. I will find some for you later.

If you can find 30,000 stories, one for each documented person who died from gun violence this past year, we will call it even.

A shameful day for Washington where the wishes of 90% of Americans regarding background checks were denied by the Senate.

"Convicted felons, those convicted of domestic violence and those with severe mental illness can continue to buy guns"

The story i just told you about the 63 year old lady does not go down as a gun shooting or killing or anything like that. No one was hurt. BUT this happens all the time. Anyway, I just assume you don't like guns or American and I should not do that. But I am getting a little worn out with this subject. You are not going to convince most of us here to turn in our firearms .

The story i just told you about the 63 year old lady does not go down as a gun shooting or killing or anything like that. No one was hurt. BUT this happens all the time. Anyway, I just assume you don't like guns or American and I should not do that. But I am getting a little worn out with this subject. You are not going to convince most of us here to turn in our firearms .

There are 300 million citizens in the USA. Your vote and opinion is one of them.

Ever hear about the Robinson, Pitman act?? Passes in the 1930's ? Taxes all gun and amo sales. Most of the taxes go to restore wet lands and other conservation items. So on top of this tax and sales taxes etc you want a sin tax? Never met a liberal who didn't like a tax. Might as well tax my whole paycheck 100%. One more thing. We need to outlaw bombs. Boston marathon bombing would never have happened then.

No, I have not heard of the Robinson Pittman Act of 1937. I expect many people have not. It has not come up in any media reporting that I have read until your post of today. Thanks!

The Pittman–Robertson Act took over a pre-existing 11% excise tax on firearms and ammunition It appears to be a federal excise tax still levied by the Secretary of the Interior to distribute to the States based on a formula that takes into account both the area of the state and its number of licensed hunters.^{[2][3][6][9][10]}

In the 1970s, amendments created a 10% tax on handguns and their ammunition and accessories as well as an 11% tax on archery equipment.^{[1][2][3][8][10]} It was also mandated that half of the money from each of those new taxes must be used to educate and train hunters through the creation and maintenance of hunter safety classes and shooting/target ranges.

According to a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services webpage that was updated in January 2010, over two billion dollars of federal aid has been generated through this program, which in turn means that states have kept up their 25% contributions with over 500 million dollars.

... I do not think this Act will financially help municipal gov'ts too much. It does not take into account the probable majority of Americans who who purchase guns and ammo and who are not licensed hunters.

Saleserviceguy , OK , we get your point. You don't like guns and you don't like Americans. Got it. Now are you going to keep posting one story after another. Why don't you post some positive story about guns. I hear them every day. Just the other day a 63 year old lady woke up and someone had broke into her home. She armed herself and fire a warning shot. The guy sat down in a chair and didn't make a move. Might have peed his pants even? The cops showed up and took him off to jail. Good ending wasn't it. If she didn't have a gun she might have been dead. You really don't care about that do you?

I like American and guns but I prefer guns in a much more controlled environment. I am glad that it worked out for that old lady but statistics prove a family member is more likely to be a victim of firearms than an assailant.
