    Are you sure?

... so now any US citizen can order an assault rifle online, have it delivered to their door like a box of shoes from Amazon.com and do with it whatever they want for the good or harm to society. No need to know if the person knows how to handle a gun, is a criminal, a psychotic lunatic or a straw purchaser who's main motive is to resell to anyone for a profit. How is that a victory for America? Polls show that 90% of Americans were in favor of enhanced background checks.

It would be fun if you could show where that actually happened.

It still lost because it is a waste of time. Although if you could show otherwise, that would be interesting to see.

Note to SalesServiceGuy: I haven't figured out yet whether you believe all the crap you spew, or if you are just trying to spark debate. If it is the latter, I say go for it. Many people like a spirited debate. I don't, which is why this is the only response you will see from me, but many do.

If you actually believe that this is such a terrible country and we have all these problems that you talk about that need addressing, I say, since you don't live here, you really should mind your own business and go away.

Perhaps not very eloquently put, but it's what I think.

Most of the murders are from handguns . Rifles were used in 358 murders in the year 2010. So called assult rifles are not the problem. There are close to 20,000 laws on the books reguarding firearms. Do you really think a few more are going to have any effect on the murder rate?

Yes, I get the fact that if we had no guns, we have no death by guns, duh. You keep posting these stats, what is the result you are going for? Are you looking for debate? Are you waiting for all the gun owners to admit how right your stats are? This is what I mean when I say that nobody here cares. Your data may be correct, we just don't give a shit.

Thankfully one of the scumbags is confirmed as dead, the other one still at large.

Correcting a statement I made in here about the legitimacy of their gun ownership. I had assumed as such without any information. New information has come to light stating they did not in fact have permits for their firearms.

    Re: Gun Control

SalesServiceGuy, You can post as much as you want on this topic, but where are you going with it. I get the feeling that most of the people reading this thread just don't care. I am by no means right wing, more independent than anything, and have 5 guns in the house right now. I also could care less about background checks, as I have to get one to have a DOD ID card, and every time I go to the base and it is scanned, my background is checked by the fact that if I am wanted for anything, I will be detained at that point.

As far as buying and selling assault rifles through the mail, Having lived in the country most of my life, I did not know that was a problem. People I know have been doing that for decades.

I think that the hot topic issues are little more than a distraction to keep people from paying attention to other issues. Like a fertilizer warehouse in Texas that had 1000 times more than they should have, didn't disclose it to anyone, including local firefighters. Some fertilizers get volatile when wet. When talking about public safety, isn't that an elephant in the room. If I were a terrorist or just a nut., I bet I could get fertilizer and diesel fuel in your country.

Does it go too far to call the West Fertilizer Corporation a terrorist corporation for its actions that led to the explosion that has killed at least 14 people so far, a number that could still go higher, and destroyed much of the town of West, Texas? Perhaps it goes too far to use such […]

And now to take the other side of the issue... When gun owners take the position that new laws only hurt the honest legal gun owner because the criminal will find a way to get a gun or weapon, I can assume the person saying that also supports the legalization of all drugs...because they have been illegal for almost a century and the users still get them, so what's the use...

or what really happened, was five Democratic senators up for re-election this year in pro gun states decided to vote against their parties wishes due to heavy pressure from the NRA and its supporters. Two Republican senators actually voted for gun control. The gun control bill failed to pass the Senate by only six votes.

Obama said he considered the loss "just Round 1. " Senators "caved to the pressure and they started looking for an excuse — any excuse — to vote no," Obama said.

Even if the gun control bill successfully passed the Senate, it would have likely never pass the Republican controlled Congress. The Republican party historically has been pro gun and for the last four years very anti-Obama. Public approval ratings of Congress have been at an all time low for months now.
