Re: Gun Control
I took that exactly as you said it. If you wish to pretend that you are a criminal, you should expect stuff like this.
Gun Control

Re: Gun Control
Good info Kidaver. I was not in the service so did not know if the rifles were full auto or not. I did know about the maiming rounds. Crazy war stuff. So Zootech. You mentioned converting some of these semi auto rifles to full auto? I,m not sure how easy it is to do that. Also I don,t think you have a advantage if your weapon is full auto. That sick Adan Lanza had a semi auto. The Aurora theater shooter had semi auto. Now here is a story I thing you all will remember. Feb,28 1997 . 2 bank robbers in North Hollywood . They had about 6 rifles that they converted to full automatic. Robbed the bank and had a Shootout with the police. DAMN, they fired off more than 2000 rounds. And didn't,t kill anyone. Wounded about 11 people. Why didn't,t they kill anyone? I thing it because there weapons were FULL AUTO. They didn't,t AIM. Just sprayed bullets everywhere. If they had them set to 3 round burst or just semi auto they would have killed a shit load of people? HOW do you fire off over 2000 rounds and not kill any of your targets? These guys also had bullet proof vest on. They got hit multiple time but were not hurt. You can google this and watch footage of this going down. So darn. I wish there was some easy solution but as long as you have evil people in the world things will never change.Leave a comment:

Re: Gun Control
This thread is full of twists and turns. It goes from robberies with the primary theft target as the guns? (because they are worth more than a television) It goes from criminals vs. overmedicated, It takes a turn through the danger of handguns vs. rifles, It mentions small towns, metropolis, and sparsely populated areas. Responsible owners vs. "off the street buyers". and the hopes that registration would resolve.
Our nation was founded on an armed population ready to fight for their freedom. With that at the core, it is a heated issue.
I personally am unclear on what registration would resolve. Knowing where they are would only help if you knew which one was the culprit. Is the thought that a collector that has several guns is a "nut job" and bears watching? You can't even use a felon's criminal past against them for fear of violating their civil rights. I just don't get what they hope to fix.
Absolutely, guns need to only be in the hands of responsible, well trained people. But, if that were the case, there would be no gun crimes would there?
I don't have an answer to the problem other than better handling of criminals. Deal with them more harshly so that crime does not pay. Don't let them get a second offense. In my mindset, that is the better answer.Leave a comment:

Re: Gun Control
Up above you said the AR 15 was designed for killing. In the military you either have an M4 or M16 which is a semi auto weapon as in my 8 year I never used the 3 round burst on my weapon, it was always set to semi when firing. Another thing we were taught is that these weapons use a 5.56mm NATO round. The round are not designed to kill but to maim. I mean they will kill you if they hit you in the right place and will damn sure maim you. They use that round because it more "humane". You gotta love the logic of things. I know lots of people with stockpiles of guns and ammo (I do live in Texas), however I have never had a nervous feeling around them that they are going to freak out and shoot us all up. I can however go into a local store in a bad neighborhood with a lot of shady characters around it. There are times I have felt safer in Iraq than some of the areas around here.Leave a comment:

Re: Gun Control
I've qualified with the AR15 in the Air Force, and I don't understand why they would be legal for the populace; they are for killing.
And at this time of night, I may not be paying attention to semantics - it's time for this old man to get ready for another days work.
I qualified on the M16, not the AR15.Leave a comment:

Re: Gun Control
Zootech. You have been brain washed by the media. AUTOMATIC weapons are NOT legal for your average citizen to own. Damn. And in the U.S. There are only about 170 people out of 10000 people killed each year with AR 15 , AK 47 style rifles. It is not a serious problem. My goodness.
An AUTOMATIC weapon would be something like the Thompson Sub-machine gun (also called the grease gun), M-4, M-16, M-60, M-2 (Affectionately called MA Deuce), etc. With the exception of the M-4 and later versions of the M-16 which fire 3 round bursts, you pull the trigger and the weapon continues to fire until you release the trigger or run out of rounds.
If you want real fire power there is the Dillon Aero M134 Gatling Gun. 3000 rounds of 7.62mm per minute.Leave a comment:

Re: Gun Control
Zoo tech, I really don,t think you are paying attention. A AR 15 or AK 47 is a semi auto weapon. They are not illegal. In your post you said Automatic WMD. You are getting a little emotional . Don,t get pissed at me.Leave a comment:

Re: Gun Control
OK, I know I'll regret this, but these are my feelings. A "level playing field", where everyone is armed is not going to deter a "nut" case who has a weapon. Those people on prescription or illegal drugs, or what ever else psychiatric problems they may have could not care less if anyone or everyone might be armed to stop them. They will cause as much damage as possible, and then, as cowards will end their life; if not brought down by law enforcement or those carrying. I agree with others that these "nut" cases need to be put away for good, away from society.
So, while I'm in favor of gun control, (it should not be so easy, legally or illegally to acquire that weapon) I also believe in protecting house and home. A pump action shot gun should be enough. Where I have a problem is with the automatic "WMDs" that could overtake a small army. If, as 'patriots' we are afraid that our government will suppress us, then we have already lost, and no matter how many arms we have, we will loose.
The answer is voting for a change - for people that will represent us, the people, and not corporate entities.Leave a comment:

Re: Gun Control
Maybe I like to think from both sides, but if I were a criminal, and knew that every home had a gun, then I would assume that every home had something of value to steal when the homeowners are gone. Also the town in Washington has less than 300 people. Not sure if they had a crime problem before, but I wouldn't assume a town that size would.Leave a comment:

Re: Gun Control
Good info Akitu, I have no idea why one country has more gun killings over another. Might have something to do with in inner citys gang mentality? No father at home to set rules? I might sound like a bigot but love all races. And Switzerland has the same percentage of gun deaths as Canada but the whole population is armed there but not Canada. I have know idea. Like I said. Up bringing??Leave a comment:
