I can honestly say that if I was a new member, and saw the forum in it's present state, I would certainly think twice about making any type of contribution, financially or otherwise. The lack of upkeep would be a big red flag to me that whomever runs this place doesn't care and can't be bothered to support it, so why should I.

Climbing off my soapbox. I've said my piece and I'll leave it at that.

      Re: Moderator desperately needed!

I know I should say something here, but I can't think of anything right now.

Like tsbservice, I have become capable of ignoring quite a lot of things. Yes it would be nice if the place was cleaned up, but I can easily overlook it.

In my real life, I cannot really express my opinions quite a candidly as I do here. And I think I would not be interested in being a member of a fully "politically correct" forum, like many of the manufacturers try to present as open forums.

No continuity to my thoughts, but that's become the new normal. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

        Re: Moderator desperately needed!

How about something as simple as logging onto a "technician help" website and select what forum you want to view. If you want to discuss other subjects, politics etc you go to to that forum. Instead of having all the "garbage" on home page. This way you don't have hijackers with the spam or political crap spewing their bullshit in plain view. If you hide this garbage new members may join. And I know of a few old timers that would come back and share their knowledge if it was cleaned up.

          Re: Moderator desperately needed!

The "How Crazy is Donald Trump" thread in the Rants N Raves forum has 4,588,799 views, many times more than all of the other threads on CTN combined. This automatically drives Ad $ and is largely why CTN meets its revenue goals every month.

You would be hard pressed to find that many views of any forum on any topic on the internet other than music videos on YouTube.

There is no money in listening to copier techs whine about this or that.

If you think CTN is going away anytime soon because a few techs do not understand the economics of this platform, nobody will miss you when you are gone.

Oh, and thanks for the demerit to my reputation points. It helps to clearly show where I stand, and just how valued my help, advice, and opinions are in this community.

At this point, I'd ask the moderator / admin to just delete or close this thread as it seems most don't agree with me or even mind the way things are, but... wait... never mind.

              Re: Moderator desperately needed!

We don't need a freaking moderator. We're all demographically the same middle-age, mature, American guys. We can handle ourselves.

Like everyone else says ignore the bullshit. If we get spammed with 50+ garbage threads -- YES moderate, but that's rare.

My only problem is this site is too expansive.

I want several sites. A Kyocera Expert Site. A Sharp Expert Site. A Konica Expert Site. Etc, Etc, Etc.

Maybe there's a better way to partition this site (different URLS?) but Aneurysm is the only one putting up any effort and he ain't goddamn sleeping on 100 bills.....

You are wrong, most agree that this forum needs a moderator. The only people that don't want it are the troublemakers. Stand your ground and don't back down. If the good techs that want this forum to survive better realized if they don't step up this place will be shut down eventually.

Don't sweat it about these assholes taking point from your reputation. This is the only thing they know how to do. No technical expertise with copiers, etc. I've begged these punks to take all my rep points. Rep points mean nothing to me! I know how I help fellow techs on this forum. Don't need any point for my ego! To prove a point I tried to delete all my rep points but could not find a way to do it.

Do the same to them and take away their reputation points. This hurts their small ego's. These 4-5 morons give each other reputation points on a regular basis. That is how they got most of their rep points, not from helping anyone. And even worse some are the same person with different names giving themselves rep points. How sick is that!

Yes still pending. I guess politics neutral and volunteer greatly reduce Admin choice.

Wow, up until your distribution of demerit for a legitimate debate, and this post here, I actually had some respect for you as a person. Apparently I made a bad judgment of your character.

It's funny how the dirt keeps creeping from between the cracks. No wonder people keep saying things are just great around here and it's becoming very obvious why people don't want moderation!

When you shake the rug a little, the dirt starts coming out, and in the end, you just might end up with a clean rug!

He has been complaining about " rep points" for at least a year.
I used to like some of his comments, until he got a little over the top.
BTW I have had a good rep that was torn down because of my political comments ( RantsNRaves where anything goes?) But I could care less if anyone likes me.
That is not the objective here @ CTN.
Yes we have non-tech related forums here, if anyone doesn't like those forums then simply Iggy those forums. I get 156 channels over my Air Antenna.. most I take out of the viewing list.
As for the spammers selling: weed/CBD.. phones .. TVs I report them to Aneursym and let him decide about what to do about.
As some have stated.. we are grown ups (?) Here... some have thin skins.. some of us have thick skins.. just a fact of life.
Now as far as your view of me.. I think I made it clear how I feel about others. Iggy me I really don't GAF.
Have a nice day and bless your heart.
