    Slow site responce

I do not know if it is just me but the site response is very slow or fails connection. Also topics are not getting updated when all threads are read. And threads are showing incorrect names/ avatars when some responses are made. It is really frustrating when the topic doesn't show that there is a new response and there is one. You have to study the name and avatar on the topic to see if there is a new response. As you can see with the responses it is not correct. The responses were 13 and 16 hrs ago when I opened it up to read.

I am also getting very pissed off of getting "This page is not working" messages when I click on a thread. The old site had its issues but this site is really disappointing.

I know I am on other forums in the US and they do not have these types of issues. I also am getting an error when I try to post this conversation saying "Error O".
Maybe this is why so many of the good old tech are not visiting this site as much anymore. Just saying.

I was very disappointed too from the move jumping from not updating BB for many years to latest version was a risky game and we suffered. A lot of good old folks are not around anymore because they can't accept the new look and features. Do I have to mention private messages which now are joke.
There are positives like easy attachment of files were nightmare before upgrade.
The reality is none of us is bound to stay here...well maybe few fanatics like me.
Through the years I participated in many forums and none of them can be administered by single person no matter how good is man.
At least forum works somehow and site is up.
Otherwise I have to find a new hobby...hahaha

I have noticed there problems for quite some time now. I think I might know the cause of some of them. I have noticed that if a thread was started by someone on my ignore list, I never see that thread listed. The other thing is if someone is in the process of starting a new thread it isn't listed but the forum will show as having unread posts. Using the Mark this channel read button clears the forum but takes time and if many people are doing the same may further overload the server.

FYI I have a rather large ignore list because of the number of posts a day some individuals make on the political threads. I don't need that many email notification.

That's 'normal' procedure on most forums, along with seeing their posts if someone else quotes them...

Something must be going on maybe slight forum update or activation of new features but that drastically slows response time.
I guess time for "last known good configuration" or revert settings/backup.

What I would like to see is an Ignore list that only affects the Non-Technical Forums if that is possible.

For the past 3-4 weeks we have been getting pounded by a few nefarious bots. Bots are a necessary evil and most are friendly enough, like the [insert major search engine name here]Bot or [insert a different search engine name here]Bot, but others are shitbag AI crawlers that pound so hard it grinds the site to a halt. It's not a DDoS attack but the results are similar. We run on multiple processors with enough memory to handle the usual load with ease, but what we've been seeing recently is crazy, it's to the point where I'm calling in some profe$$ional services to take a look.

Thanks for the heads-up and explanation Aneurysm

This bit made me laugh enough that I'm glad I wasn't taking a slurp of tea:

Yes, I have also noticed this error. The icon on the right is mine but the name showing the wrong user.
