I've contacted the admin of Migadu and he's totally okay with the fact that it's used for scan2mail,

He recommends having a single domain name, but creating a separate e-mail address for each customer to keep track of those who abuse it (too many scans / death threats / etc.).

This is 100% the reason I require all of my clients to provide an email account for their MFPs and other devices to use for any kind of email. Spam has been an issue for decades and the basic tools to reduce email impersonation and to blacklist spammers have been around forever but not enforced. It's about time that DKIM and SPF are enforced. The issue isn't with SMTP2Go, it's with providers that have been doing the work for their clients.

.... well that is great that the customer provides a unique email address for their copier. How do you propose to configure the smtp client?

When the client has the ability to generate an email address they have access to their mail system. At that point it's just knowing, or looking up, the requirements for that service which is easy enough to do.

The majority of my clients are using 365 and hosted Exchange through it so it's just configuring an address for the HVE servers or following the steps for a relay. SPF and DKIM at that point are already taken care of because it's been set as part of 365 onboarding. It's a similar thing for smaller clients using ISP email accounts: there's no third-party like SMTP2GO involved in the process so no records to add to DNS, etc.

I have noticed on several of my recent smtp2go and other smtp client installs when using MS365 Outlook, scanned paper documents end up in the customers Junk folder. Whe I list the email as a Safe Sender, scans still go to the Junk folder. Any idea why?

You are most likely adding to the sender's account or domain because I doubt if you have access to all of your customer's recipient's accounts and domains. The "Safe Sender" list is for email being sent to your customer, not email your customer sends to someone else.

I've seen this also at one customers with one user. Another user, at the same customer, had the issue where the email left the device without error but couldn't be found on any of their email sub folders at all... 🤷‍♂️

Because the SMTP2GO mail servers aren't listed in the DNS records for the domain name's mail servers. Exchange sees them as a spoofed email address, which is a trivial method of attack for phishing and other attacks.

This is one of my pet peeves as a former copier tech who switched over to Account Management and has handled 95% of his own IT and Installs since the earliest digital copiers. The modern copier tech needs to be an IT tech more so than a mechanic. Its a problem where I work and I'm sure many other dealers are in the same boat. The copiers just don't require the mechanical and technical skill to repair that they did when I was in the field. To me it is unacceptable that there are copier techs who don't know the basics of printing, scanning and configuring a machine via the web interface or how to speak the language of a client's IT vendor to diagnose and resolve printing and scanning issues. It should be a job requirement........but it isn't.

Of course, but where are you going to find new technicians ?
I'll take my own situation (in France), I'm trying to get a bachelor's degree with "VAE" and then a master's in R&T (Network & Telecom), and I've had 4 contacts who have been unable to find a diploma that corresponds to “Copier technician” or anything remotely similar to our job. So I'm going for a bachelor's in R&T.
So, you have to find people who are interested enough in IT to study it, but not developers (the branch that pays the most), and then convince them that they're actually going to spend most of their days in a car and crouching down to change a drum or fuser or whatever bullshit is broken down (IT'S 2025 FFS CAN WE HAVE SOMETHING VIABLE ???), for a lower salary than if they'd stayed in a purely IT job.
