I have it up and running great... fax,print,copy... not bad. now I have to learn how to work it.

no it is not necessary to remove the fax board before upgrading

on this series you have to install the N version firmware after installing the boot rom and NIC card in the multi-pdl kit

without the firmware you will not see the PS/PCL version

ok now I need to get the sst and n firmware......Once again Help...

btw I instlled the fax board before the warning and fax works great.... should I remove it??

U have no PS/PCL --.--ver listed

where did u get the Kit/NIC/& BOOT ROM FROM ??

Try clearing MMI, Service Mode>Copier>Function>Clear>MMI>OK; power cycle the machine, and then check the PS/PCL version in Service Mode.
Clearing MMI will delete all mailboxes, IP Address, E-Mail setup, etc.. Be sure to P-print out these items -if stored- prior to performing MMI Clear.


note --u have old firmware/do not install that g3 Fax Kit
u need SST & UPDATED FIRMWARE



think it's time to call in a Canon trained tech to look over your situation----

choose type - hit Ok

Then hit the start key to output the test page

Sorry I ment Physically .... I have the kit but no instructions on tnstalling the g3 kit...

Hello all....

I really could use a little help please

I have just come upon 12 IR2800's and I am in the process of revamping them. The first one I am fixing will be for myself. I just got from ebay a print kit and a fax kit. ok now here is where I am having fun <stop laughing... I am a hp tech.... having fun with the canons> I guess I need a SST version greater then 3.?? to update the firmware so it can print (do I need this for the fax option?) and the firmware. As much as I looked on the internet I could not find the install guides for the fax and print options. I figured out the n rom and slide in the ethernet card. I was able to access the printer through the UI but not able to print (I figured needs F/W upgrade) PLEASE all the help would be appreacreated <Im a good tech that sucks at spelling>

BTW Thanks to teckat.. My 2800 does see the n chip and the nib board. now to figure out how to install the fax option and update firmware.... one step at a time
