    DADF-A1

i have two of these doing the exact same thing, one is on an ir 400 and the other is on a ir 330.

1-jamming at exit most of the time. will try to shoot it out but stops about 3 inches out of the exit area
2-sometimes it will run good for a few sets but happens again no matter how many originals
3-i just replaced the hinges fb3-5757 & 58 which i thought was the problem because the main left hinge was shot, and how much tolerence if any is there for the adjustment screw and nut at the bottom of each hinge. what is the measurement for them
4-cleaned all the sensors and feed in the df didn't help, pf tires, sep belts all look ok, seen worse in a1's working perfectly before, i'm leaning towards the tranport clutch or one of the motors but hate to order these things if i'm missing something simple.
5-what is the setting to shoot the originals back up on top of the stack table eliminating the upper feed tires and front solenoid and using the lower feed instead. or is that a bad idea.
    thanks much T

    1) what jam codes?
    2)
    3) sorry, I have no recollection of a hinge adjustment screw/nut
    4) did you clean the inside of the feed & separation belts? They can slip on the pulleys. I would throw all the feed & separation belts in a sinky of sudzy water, and scrub all surfaces with a toothbrush.
    5) Top feed allows your resulting copies to print out in the correct order. You don't want to turn that off. It just needs fixing.

There are many possible problems with this document feeder, and the best way for me to point you in the right direction is to know the jam codes. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Replace FB5-0364-000 torc limiter. You get at from the bottom. Take off the white belt and then there are 4-6 screws, couple connectors(optional) and the whole right assembly will come out.
It is supposed to move the diverter guide depending on if you are doing 2 sided or not. What happens is the torc limiter gets weak and lets the guide fall down a little. Not enough where the lead edge crashes into it or it diverts it to the wrong path but it must fall after the lead edge passes and puts drag on the paper as it exits.

Also check the black sensor actuator located on the rear of the cover. There is a piece of sponge adhesive above the actuator that deteriates over time causing the actuator to hang up on occasion. It gums up the top of the actuator.

not for sure what your jam codes are, couple of things to check while running mutil copies check the flag at the paper tray to see if it is moving corectly or at all.there are one ways on the sep rollers front and back, these are sep rollers in copy mode, feed in fax mode.depends on when you last replace the feed and sep units.best to replace both at same time.looking at jam codes are very helpful for this hope this helps
