    IR8500 White Dots/Voids

I have a copy quality problem with an IR8500 where white dots or voids are showing up against a halftone and to a lesser extent on solid black. It is always on the lead edge and roughly in the same area with the same pattern. I have cleaned up the developer unit and dicors but haven't replaced any parts as yet. Ive attached a picture to show the problem.

Do the Pre-Transfer Lower Guide guide plates remain clean/ if not bias is missing >check make sure the back contacts are not bent

Could be Poor separation try turning off Potential Control > check prints/ if improved replace Potential Sensor and Potential Sensor PCB

    For any environmental conditions Check- Copier > Option > Body > TR-SP-C1 , C2 , C3 , C4 , MF , DK [range 0 - 2] default setting 0/ try 1 or 2

from old paper work>White Speckles (Spots)lead edge Disconnect J733 on the HVT-DC1 PCB located in the rear upper left corner of the machine. This will eliminate the fixing bias and the transfer guide bias. If the spots are still present replace the Transfer / Separation Corona Assembly.

Thanks for the replies guys, we did the transfer checks and everything seems OK. We're suspecting the developer unit but we don't have another developer unit to try and quite honestly the we need the customer to make up his mind if he wants to buy a new one. Is there such a thing as rebuilt units out there?

Have you checked the drum, laser the fold back mirror? that's also part of the image formation process. If its the same pattern in the same spot, that shouldn't be hard to find.
