    Canon IRC 5180 copying issues

Canon IC 5180 copying quality issues. Having issues only when using ADF or glass. Printing works fine. When copying I get a slight red background throughout the whole page. I also get lines that move around. This only happens when photo copying. Its got me baffled. Machine only has 45,000 page count.

      Magenta backround

      hello

Have you tried auto gradiation ?
This is a mode the user can re-calibrate the printer with the scanner
      Also
How many colour copies has the Magenta drum done ?
How old is the M drum ?

The reason I ask these questions is the drum can do as little as 35k or as much as 80k it all depends on the age / number of copies / and the level of coverage. ( heavy graphics or toner coverage will reduce the life of the drum as much as 40%)
I can instruct you how to obtain the drum info aswell as the auto gradiation if you want.

      Cheers

clean your optics and adjust the CCD then run the auto gradation.

Red as in Red, and not magenta right? It sounds as if there is a problem with the red channel in the CCD unit. I'd try replacing the CCD and turn it in for warranty since it has only 45k.
Maybe a R-CON clear and re-entering the values for the CCD might work too.

i do not think the CCD would be covered under the manufacturer warranty cost would have to be greater than $300 or under 90 days from time of install.
