Bizhub 1052 with fs532, finisher weirdness.

Gonna go have a look at this in a while but additional input is always nice!

Main exit tray goes all the way to the bottom and sits there and says empty the tray. There is nothing in the tray... the only way to get it to go back up is to take the tray right off , the cross bracket and the 2 side brackets... then the belts will move "up" . If you re-assemble it anyway at all , even just partially . It goes back to the bottom. No errors. Just empty the tray basically..

    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

    Thanks!
    A.

Not familiar with these machines at all but, check tray bottom position sensor it may give false information that tray is full, just a thought.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

Ahh Good ol' FS-532.. 700 firmware revisions and it's finally marginally better. The top level sensor is a photo beam with the receiver on the rear and the emitter on the font side. The PCB for the emitter often gets damaged or bent and needs to be replaced and/or re-aligned. Also it helps sometimes to just remove the rubber grommet that the LEDS peek through. In addition to the top tray sensor, there are 4 or 5 level sensors that let the machine know where the tray is as copying progresses. These will also fail but typically give you a "remove paper from main tray finisher" message at the end of a job.

        Good luck
