Many thanks for this. Was getting pretty much this exact problem on an ex lease C284e. Disconnecting the hard disk allowed us to completely install the latest FW. Just going through the physical format at present.
Everything that has a beginning, has an end.....

I found this on copytechnet and this worked for me.

"From the service mode I had to install the HDD. Then upon reboot, copier displayed "HDD Lock Password", went into Admin mode, Security, HDD Settings, then HDD Lock. The screen came up prompting me to enter a password twice. It rejected a bunch of passwords, finally I entered 123456789101112131415 and it liked it. I guess they wanted a really long password. Entered it again and it accepted it. Rebooted the copier, reformatted the HDD, which took hours, Rebooted the copier and then did a Logical Format. Rebooted again and it worked. At one point the display did say something about an encryption password but I only saw that message once. Copier is all better now. THANKS THANKS THANKS to both of you"
Thank you thank you. Worked for me

I have a Konica Minolta C3350i that the CPU Board went out. So, I replaced the CPU Board and kept the original storage (memory) board on the new CPU. When I first boot it up Reset Lock Password comes up and it will not allow me to get into admin mode or service mode. However, I can get into Service Mode through the trouble reset screen. The things i have tried so far is:
          • putting in the Lock Password- when i do so the screen freezes and then goes back to main home screen which still says Reset Lock Password
          • done a physical format but still once again comes up Reset Lock Password.
          • tried to do a logical format but it will not allow it start button is grayed out.
If there are any other suggestions that would be greatly appreciated!

Well bold first post but did you put brand new or used CPUB(even borrowed from shipment damaged machine isn't new)?

Thanks for responding, I received the CPU board from Konica Minolta and I would assume they are used boards.

Well then they are responsible for taking your money 😉 Give them a shout.

Just had the same thing about 6 months ago. Finally got rid of it by doing a "Physical" format of the HDD. It took like 5 hrs so just let it run all night in my shop.

Not sure if it was for this issue or one of those other odd messages when buying off lease machines, but might of been something else I did that I got off google search. Something like putting in a real long password 2 x's or something like that. I'll try and find it.
this has worked many times for me. be patient it takes forever.

You should be able to tell, based on the part description and number, if it was a used CPU Board or not. If it was used, it should be labeled as repaired and have an "R" at the end of the part number, at least in the US. Also in the US, it would have a label on the box from Hytec.

It sounds like you already did what I'm about to ask, but did you boot with a firmware stick, set the machine type correctly, and then update the firmware immediately after replacing the CPU Board?

This can happen when the SSD had a lock password on it. It can also happen with a used CPU board that HAD a cpu lock (as others have mentioned). Every CPU i've had from Konica has been "cleansed" before I got it but I suppose it's possible it might slip through.

A lot of times it is set to the last 6 digits of the serial number twice followed by 8 zeros. I don't know if this is a Konica default...or what...but several off lease used machines for me have used this pattern.

For example if the last 6 digits of the serial number is "020866" then enter: 02086602086600000000

Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't the only options left are:
                      1. Defeat the lock with a PC (not sure if this works anymore with the M.2 SSDs, haven't tried).
                      2. Logical format the disk from service mode.
Worked in IT for 12 years from Helpdesk up to System Administrator. Now working as the IT Manager at a copier company for the last 4 years.

If I helped you out, please give me a thumbs up! It helps my reputation.
