Re: Can't start firmware update in c258
Nothing in the service manual or knowledge base suggests this on any KM SMs I have looked through. ..Must be an urban legend..You should never say Bloody Mary 3 times out loud while upgrading firmware..lolComment

Re: Can't start firmware update in c258
I've never seen anything like this mentioned for KM, nor have I ever had an issue updating with the network cable plugged in. I do know that when I worked on Ricoh/Savin lines, it was a requirement, and they pushed it hard in training. If anything came over that network cable during the update, it would cause you some major headaches that you really didn't want to experience.A Ricoh Service Tech for 7 year. A Konica Minolta Service Tech for 7 years. Now, KM service manager for 4 years.
My Ricoh knowledge is slowly dwindling away at this point. Many things have been lost to time...Comment

However I do pull the LAN if working on a Bizhub in a busy office, it stops the users printing when i'm trying to access CE mode!

Re: Can't start firmware update in c258
I have a handful of 2GB Centron USB2.0 sticks that I use for almost everything. The Centron sticks were misprinted with some logo that I cannot recognize, so I got them cheap. They almost never fail. I've had two of them die after daily hard use. One took a trip through the washing machine. When I inserted it in the PC it said that the drive was "dirty"! I can't imagine why? It's as clean as I could get it.
I have two 8GB sticks for the HP Pagewide XL firmware (massive: 7GB). I've also got some ancient 100MB & 250MB sticks intended for early digital cameras. When possible, I always use the smallest stick that will still hold the whole firmware file. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

we use to use ISW to load firmware on CF card models because it always worked and we kept losing the cards or the card reader lol.
I like using ISW at runup in workshop but havent been able to get it to work since the 4 series required u to attract the files instead of leaving them as a tar fileComment

If IT is onsite I tell them to set print cue to offline. I've had sites that if U don't do this jobs get jammed in cue.
Most IT don't allow Manage permissions so asking 10 lawyers to do something "technical" is impossible
