The IH unit is right behind fuser unit. Remove fuser and you will see black plastic piece that almost contacts fuser roller to heat it. IH technology doesn't use lamps to heat fuser rollers like conventional fuser units. Disassembly instructions in service manual.

I've had these codes come up on an 808 and a c658... not so much on the 4/4e series. Before you change the heater unit, it is possible that the board that powers the unit is the problem. If you have spare parts, I'd try the IHPU before I tried the IHC.

I'll second that. In the 11 years I've been working the KM brand, I've seen this code (or it's equivalent) a total of 6 times. Every one of those times it was the IHPU that was bad, and only once (on a 552) was the coil pack bad which is what lead to the IHPU going bad on that particular one. Definitely focus the attention on the power unit.

My Ricoh knowledge is slowly dwindling away at this point. Many things have been lost to time...

I once had one that ended up being the IH coil and the IH power supply. If I replaced one it would take the other out. If you do replace the IH coil use the manual , its not hard but the instructions in the manual make it much easier
