Buizhub 450i won't come to ready after HDD replaced

I am not a Konica tech. I have been servicing copiers since 1987. I occasionally work on Konica. I have a 450i that wouldn't boot. Shows the progress screen for about a minute then it reboots and starts over. An infinite cycle. I replaced the "storage board." I loaded the firmware from usb. It downloads all firmware then reboots. But it remains stuck on the progress screen at about 25%. It doesn't auto reboot anymore. Is there a different firmware for replacement of boards versus just for upgrading?

Was the storage board new OEM from KM?

You need to make sure the proper boot rom is on the machine. May also need to run the 8 series reset tool. Just popping in a new storage does not work. Also if you did put in a used board you must do the reset tool. This is never a straight forward process

Do you happen to know what the firmware was before it failed? Was the old storage board the same size as the new one? If not, it may need the Boot ROM updated to be compatible.

The new board was smaller. Can you send the Boot ROM?

The boot rom is included in the main firmware. Follow the pdf to update the boot rom.

Yes boot rom should be updated before loading or even updating firmware

Ok. Got it going. Gotta rag on Konica. Every other manufacturer's firmware updates everything. Why in the world is the Boot program in the firmware but doesn't update? So stupid.
