Scan to Email slows then stops

    Hi All,
I have a client with a C458 that is having problems with Scan to Email, where after initial configuration it works fine, but over time, the send time slows until it won't sent at all.

The current workaround is to switch setting the SMTP Server Address from the domain name to the IP address and back.

Has anyone had an issue like this?

My thought is to update the firmware, but the C458 is currently running special firmware GC1-X8. Is there an update to the special firmware, or do we need to get it to GCQ-Y2. If so, what is that procedure?

    Thanks!

I would check DNS settings, as when changing from to an ip address and back helps, worth checking (or put it temporarily on dchp and see what DNS it gets)
Networking skills are advantageous but use of a 3m vacuum cleaner is essential

hey, sometimes a simple oversite like the tx speed, you can lock down 100tx duplex.
also the silliest one that crippled a school, the friggin time on the machines was an hour off and the smtp server refused the connection.
hope its that simple if the hold-up is on the machine side.
also what does the smtp server say? is there something in a log that can assist?
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
      The medication helps though...

SW 25 is correct, as are the relevant time settings.
We'll have to get back to the companies IT staff to review the logs on their mail server to see if it's picking up a problem. But, from what we can see, the traffic isn't leaving the printer, although it shows as sent... which is why I was thinking firmware.

It's not working, then I would go for latest firmware.

Any issues with printing? sounds like a network issue, high traffic.

Why is the device is on special firmware ? if no reason try updating to the latest.

put the FW000xx folder in its entirety on a 4g or smaller flash drive formatted fat32
turn off main power, insert drive in front panel usb, hold down stop button and turn on machine.
when you see the black dot and a beep you can let go.
FW will start automatically but you can hit start if its blue
                  should reboot when done.

We use 32g flash drives, I'll call 2005 and see if I can find a 4g and try that Thanks

im not being funny, its what is required.
                      very few 8g sticks work.
                      4g is your best bet.

Old wives' tale. I use a 64gb Kingston stick for all models ending in 7, 8, 8e, 0i, 1i, never gives me an issue.

I would flash straight to GCQ-Y2 - the special firmware you're running now is over 4 years old. No dipswtich to change either, both are function version 4.2

I have experimented with various USB drives to update firmware on many manufacturers & surprisingly this little 32GB USB C dual drive worked fine.

i never had any luck with drives bigger than 4g for FW.
                              jersey luck i guess.
