Can you remove finisher from C3851FS and install tray from C3851

Customer's C3851FS is making noises. They don't need the stapling function. Is it possible to remove finisher and install output tray from nonFS 3851?

I read somewhere that disabling finisher is possible. Would that make device basically same as with c3851 non fs tray?

I don't think output tray is the same but not 100% sure. The FS paper exits the front and the 3351 paper exits like most Bizhubs from side.

you can disable the finisher.in parts isolation. but i think it will still issue a erratic jam code.

I believe it is not possible to physically remove these finishers.

I've isolated the finisher on a few of these, the machine works fine with it isolated. The paper comes out the same as it would on a regular non-FS machine.

How do you isolate the finisher? I checked the service manual. Don't know where to look.

I found something in the manual. It talks about the function. Does the finisher have to give a service code before you have the option of putting it in isolation? Not sure on this one.

Service mode -> System 1 -> Problem Unit Isolation -> Set Finisher -> Apply -> Reboot

That's the customer-accessible way of disabling it, but it doesn't always work.

I never understood why they invented such a complex finisher for a machine that doesn't need one. Half of them broke down within a year.
