    c258 - Uninstalling the HDD

End user here, maintenance man for the owner.

C258 machine popped up the D011 error. I have gone through the tech. rep mode to "uninstall" the HDD on System 2 to get the machine functioning. (Machine is only used for printing and copying...completely under-utilized) However, when I press "not installed", I get an audible double-beep and the selection cannot be made. I have even attempted to go to tech. rep mode through the trouble reset screen per a recommendation that someone had in another thread; but I was unsuccessful.

Has anybody came across this before and if so, what worked for you? I am not opposed to getting a professional to come to my rescue, but I am asking out of curiosity and to better understand the machine that I have. I can even sign a blood-oath that I tried to search for this information on the forum before making an unnecessary thread.

Thanks for all of the information you all provide. It has helped me a ton in the 3 years I have been "lurking" on this site.

    Try this:
Power off the machine then unplug the HDD in the rear. Then start the copier while holding the reset key. From trouble reset mode, unset the HDD. After that reboot normally. Does that produce a different result?

Sorry for the double post. This just came to mind. We have found sometimes we get HDD codes for HDDs that just aren't bad but have data on them that the Konica doesn't expect. We take all the HDDs we have with codes and plug them into computers to check SMART status. If found to be good and not have a lot of hours, we zero the drives and put them back into the rotation of spare HDDs.

After you press not installed you sometimes have to wait a couple of minutes before you see it not installed . You could try physically unplugging the hard drive and then enter service mode through reset screen and trying to un-installing it. Good luck

Unless I missed it did you try and just format the HDD instead of uninstalling? Do logical format first or if that don't work a physical format that can take hours to complete.
