    [Misc] C454

    Hi all,

    Long time no see

I have an C454e but its showing 8.5x11 on tray 2 even though its got A4 in it, both tray 1 and 3 show correctly. I've seen this many times on C220 type machines and changing the tray sorts it out but not on this machine. I'm no aware of any settings for this, any ideas?

    Many thanks Paul.

    Re: C454

Size detect mechanism in the back of the machine behind the tray is possibly the culprit.

BUT, what all have you done? Details matter.

I thought you can manually set the sizes for the drawers and override Auto size? Touch the paper tray then "change settings" tab right next to it. Know I've done that for the Manual feed tray but also thought it worked for any tray?

No, i think you can only change paper thick settings, not paper size.

Yes you can lock in a manual size.
            Check your marketing area.

I will check tomorrow but i am pretty sure it is not possible, at least not for Europe marketing area.

Thanks for all the reply. I'll look into detection at the back of the tray and also the linked thread.
Unfortunately you can't just override the detected size as far as I know 😥

I've seen the cable to the size detect sensors break/snap it seems like they are attached too tight so break over time.

Trays are either set for US or A4. market..the side guides interface with the rear size detect assy. The bypass tray has a rheostat that is adj/calibrated in service mode..Tray 1 and 2 errors are almost always caused by the guides or paper behind the tray. E

I've seen this on quite a few machines:

                        C224e draw issues
                        =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
