    C3350i TCR levels

I've seen on a few machines lately, where one image unit codes out for low TCR, and all the others are fine. But after I replace that image unit, a different one shows a high TCR in the high 7% to low 8% range, and a day or two later, that image unit codes out. Does anybody know what might cause this? I hate to have to go back a second time with another image unit.

If you're in a pinch you can try shaking the IUs and reseat the HV unit, run some heavy coverage sheets in service and see if problem gets better. I've had to replace a few HV units even on the bw models. I hate to say it but I miss the previous series iu removal. They finally allow warranty on IUs make KM pay for this mess, and warranty out the HV. Hope you don't run into that mess with the optical units.

      Hello,

I usually replace IU and update FW.
I never replaced HVPS to resolve this issue yet.

The high tcr after replacing an iu is a known issue. The latest firmware should sort it.

Faded image on copies and prints.
Note: C255X code may also occur.

CAUSE: Image unit is depleted due to a possible poor connection on the HV units or failed image units

SOLUTION: Install firmware version G00-B5 or newer. The latest version firmware is available for download via One Stop Product Support. After installing firmware version G00-B5 or later, follow bulletin 12202. If after applying the steps in bulletin 12202 issue still exists, follow the steps below along with the attached documentation for additional information. Refer to the attached document for more information. To view the PDF, you may need to download a free copy of Adobe Reader®.

          Please perform the following steps.
          1. Remove the HV unit from the machine
          2. Check the contacts to make sure they are straight and not bent that are located under where the board was located, they connect to each unit
          3. On the HV unit gently clean the areas with sand paper or a scotchbrite pad (we have had reports of a substance or coating on the contacts) where the contacts from the inside of the machine connects to the HV unit (sample of coating when removed outlined below).

          4. Reinstall the HV unit in the machine
          5. Power ON the machine and check TCR readings for all colors they should be in the range of 6.00 if they are not, run manual toner add in service mode
          6. After TCR levels are around 6.00 run the machine, It is recommended that the GDI test page be used to make the outputs. confirm the TCR values are staying steady
7 The image units may have to be replaced if the TCR values do not recover or image quality is poor

That’s quite an old document (2020?). The modded image units are on stream now but you must update the firmware to the latest (GC4 RE in the uk) or you may get high toner concentration error codes. Also pulling out the paper tray and running a full stabilisation allows the high speed dev rotation. Then do all the gradation adjustments and you should be good to go.

Old document , what I posted however does state the most current firmware at that time or newer. It is still recommended to pull hv and clean the contacts. A lot of them have overspray on the contacts which will cause density/ toning problems

There have a been a lot of 'bugs' with this series.

Most have been resolved by updating the firmware, I'd start there.

Not sure if it's useful but Konica has a list of serial numbers with affected image units in a KB. It was last updated 7 months ago. At Konica's knowledge base it is titled:
Adjustment Procedure for the Improved Imaging Unit - KB0031212

At the end it lists serial numbers of machines and image units to indicate which MFPs received an updated unit. I would attach it here but when trying to do so the site limits me to files a little over 800kb. It's a docx file that is a little over a meg.
Worked in IT for 12 years from Helpdesk up to System Administrator. Now working as the IT Manager at a copier company for the last 4 years.

If I helped you out, please give me a thumbs up! It helps my reputation.
