    Plastic Cards

Hello my friends, for KM techs .

I want a printer that can print me on plastic cards (PVC) along with other type of paper (with different gsm).

Please I want to know what is it name ? What is the best model ? A general overview about it and its maintenance.

If i can get an approximate price of it would be great .

    Thanks in advanced.

          Re: Plastic Cards

I haven't had anyone try to print ID cards on a Konica Minolta, but I do have some experience with a customer doing these Identicard branded pre-perforated cards on a Kyocera FalconIII.

Identicard pre-perforated ID cards consistently jammed J10 because of breaking on the pre-perforations and the cards that did pass were warped from the fuser heat. The product label indicated use on INKJET PRINTERS, of which FalconIII is not.

My suggestion is to purchase the Zebra based device if you have more than one or two cards to do. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

i cant imagine a laser printer that will print on plastic well, the fuser alone comes to mind as heat and plastic dont mix.

              Re: Plastic Cards

I cringe when a customer tells me they need to run transparencies yet alone plastic cards! Any machine that is capable of doing plastic cards would be specialized and fusers designed for it.

              Best of luck

I think he needs a special INKJET printer.

or just print on a card sized label sheet and stick them on the cards.

I don't know of a KM printer but a good inkjet printer is the Epson ET-8500/8550 for under $600. The 11 x 17 model is ~$900. They take sublimation ink, min size of 2.2" x 3.4", and can handle 30 mil thick cards.
