    [Misc] The i Series

Hey, so I've got about 1200 KMs, 3 series, 4, 4e and a handful of 8s that I take care of for a healthcare provider. The new contract is about to go through (waiting since forever), and they're looking at the i series as replacements. I took the "What's new with the i series" course quite a few years ago, I recall some issues with the paper feed assys working on them in the field when they first came out. Have the bugs been worked out of them? What should I expect aside from the horrible new default display? Any horrors I should prep for?

You should receive 1i models basically the same as 0i but with a lot of improvements. I will not fear.
Well maybe they are not as robust as 3, 4 series but that's the new reality. We don't have complaints nor broken displays so far. So tablet style display is surprisingly good.
    Fingers crossed go get them!

definitely, our customers are used to the classic screen, so we set up our devices with it

          We definitely don't.

I give the clients the choice when I deliver their upgrades frm 4e/8 series to iSeries.

I have to say it is about 50/50; some people really like the new style "flat" UI as it is similar to their iPhones. The majority of users just want to be able to scan to their email and copy stuff on A4/Letter and the older style UI is defiinatley more "Busy" from a UX standpoint.

Obviously, there are the power users in amongst the user base that like the full screen of options on show at all times: like us geeks who probably had the biggest graphic calculators with all the fancy buttons when we were at school.

It is great that we can provide choice, and it is just one button on the screen to switch between the 2 modes.

I also setup using the classic screen if a customer already has a Konica Minolta. If not I give them their choice.

Classic Screen for the win! With so many devices, I think it's imperative to maintain a familiar interface. I wouldn't have time for reg service issues, I'd be running around teaching everyone how to use it. 🙄
Thank you all for the insight!
