    KM c558 stuck at 2 Pillars during startup

    Hi,

    I am facing this problem for the first time. I have read about it in previous posts but there was no conclusion. Either it's MFB board or Emmc or both.

    Machine starts with the normal sounds, beep, fans scanner home position and freezes at two pillars.

    Things done so far :-

    * Removed all the connectors on board and reseated
    * checked all the fuses on the board they are all OK
    * Removed EMMC, cleaned contacts, reseated
    * Disconnect HDD
    * Disconnect DSDF
    * Removed DSDF board
    *Removed all of the connectors from the front side board
    * LCT disconnected
    *Trays feeding connectors removed

    *Reset .tar didn't work
    * SATA controller recovery firmware didn't work
    * SATA Controller maintenance firmware didn't work
    * Trouble reset not working
    * Cannot go to service mode

    Any other possibility to fix this problem ?

    Is there a DIMM installed? I've had that be the cause before...

      With all you have done so far which was very thorough I would look at the MFP board. Did you try reg base firmware with all options disconnected and leaving front door open after powering on? Will take a long while for F/W screen to appear.

        There is no optional DIMM installed.

          It was not taking reset.tar and sata firmwares so I did not try latest firmware. MFP board I have checked psychically for the protections. They were not open.

          Base firmware I don't have and also I didn't try F/W by opening the front door.

          Can you please share if you have ?

          Thanks

            Try replacing the eMMC memory board first we've had a few of these cause this issue & they don't cost much.

              Thanks you for replying.

              If after replacing the emmc memory it behaves the same then we have to replace MFP board. So in that case there will be an additional cost. For New emmc it will work by simply installing it? or have to shaRE the serial number and model of the machine with KM? I did not request or replace this before.

                  You can just fit the eMMC, no need to contact KM they have recently released this part as a standard service item (in The EU)

                  You'll get prompted to recover data, after that it will restart & come (hopefully) to ready.

                      Thank you Tsbservice. I have c558 manual. I'll ask if I need. For the contribution I checked many times the only option available is to pay is "PayPal". I don't have PayPal account. Seems like have to create one and then transfer money to PayPal account from my bank then from PayPal to Contribution. If there is any other option then please let me know.

                      Thank you all

                        It is possible in different ways to become a contributor or VIP member. One is Pay Pal but you can use credit or debit card too.

                          With Paypal you don't have to transfer anything. It can take credit cards and just run them directly.

                          To answer your original question, if you hold the power button and turn it on, the copier will use it's lights and images on the screen to kinda make an error code. There is a document from Konica with a chart that decodes it. Ill see if I can find it.

                            Found it. You have to power the machine on while holding the power button. Then decode with the chart.
