    hypothetical ....

I posted about a strange issue with a C360i and hypothetical question came to mind. I know K/M makes a big deal about swapping boards from one machine to another and most likely impossible with the newer i/1 models.

Here is the hypothetical, if all the boards were taken from one machine and swapped to another wouldn't that machine work and all the counts , etc be the same as donor machine? I know this wouldn't make sense to do but if a machine was broken externally in tranist but all the boards were fine, couldn't they "all" be used in another machine? Why not?

maybe if the backup memory board ERB was changed too?
the base boards can be swapped around all day as long as the original eeproms and cpu are used
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
    The medication helps though...

I have done this before with success on other models. The machine changes identity, changes serial number, changes MAC address, changes hostname. But, you must change every PCB that holds the machine's identity.

      It becomes the donor machine.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

yes it works, i have done it . only problem to come in is if doner unit was written off as destroyed. you must do all boards including the id board.

Good to know swapping "all" the boards work. Hope I never need to do it

Think it was with the 4 series that I heard the serial #, etc was also kept in the control panel pwb? There was like 4 places machine info was stored if I remember correctly? Never confirmed this as I found it hard to believe.

on the i series three places hold counter /life/sn. The id board, the mfp board and ssd. with cpu being assigned to a particular sn.
