2028-3035 etc was my first Konica class, one week on the engine and a full week on accessories. HATED those finishers. One thing I do miss about the analog days, removing the covers and being able to watch everything run.

How about the first color models where you could only do one color at a time. The customer had these big plastic cases that held the heavy color developer units sitting next to copier, had to remove black DV unit and put single color in Most OEM's did this before full color came out years later. Which I think was Canon who came out with first full color box?

Were they big 'slate grey' boxes?

If so, I still have one in my shed storing 'stuff' that I might need one day....

I was thinking some had 2 slots for color and we had to mix some for a certain color like purple. Fun times.

Spot on, and they used to do a white toner, which looked really effective on dark card/paper..

20+ years ago i asked our minolta DSM why there are no minolta white toners and he laughed and said could you imagine working at Customs at the port and in comes a dozen shipping containers of fine white powder coming in from Asia marked "Toner" but that wont set off any red flags right? i laughed and bought him lunch.

                    The medication helps though...

I still have one customer with a EP-4232 with one of the two additional color units having white toner. It's an Architect making very fancy designs and they look fabulous. White toner on black paper.
Not long ago, the machine needed a cleaning and an anti spill blade. Parts are obsolete since ages, so I made them by hand using the plastic materials from “newer” blades and seals. I really enjoyed it.

Improvising is what makes a good tech. It would be great if we could pass some of these skills to the younger techs but I don't think they are interested. It's a different world now. Not sure there will be any real copier technicians in the future, only IT people pretending to be techs
