    Scan to email

Install a new machine bizhub c251i on customer site and tried to set up scan to email, where they were connected wireless network, is it possible to set up without authentication? Need clarification, and if someone can help me with the step by step will be grateful.
    Thank you in advance.

Hi, in my opinion you only have this three ways but Im not to 100% sure:

Recommended: Set up SMTP with authentication (secure & reliable).

Without authentication: Only possible if the mail server allows it (rarely the case). or you have a local mail server

Alternative: Use Scan-to-Folder or SMTP relay.

Thank you I tried to set up smtp with authentication but not sure what password should be used.

I tried set up scan to folder and there are few users use MacOs which doesn't support scan to folder I guess?
So I need clarification on this one.
      Thank you in advance.

What smtp server do you use? Do you have your own mail server or a third-party one (for example, Google or Outlook, or Yahoo)

There is information on this issue on youtube here and here.
If you do not use 2FA OAuth, then in the smtp password section, you need to specify the password from "application password office 365".
To enable this option to install app passwords, you must have two-factor authentication installed (in Google services this is exactly how it happens).
            Good luck)

if you're using 365, then most people set up a dedicated email address , for example scanner@ whatever their email is, then that email address/password is used for smtp authentication,, the email address also goes in system settings, device information, for the admin and device emails. You may have to set up a certificate on the device to use TLS. You may need SMTP authentication turned on for emailing, this is done through the customers 365 account. If you have the latest FW for the device, then you'll be able to use OAuth. But tbh, the customers IT should be telling you what email address, password & SMTP to use - all you should need to do is input it into the device.

Thanks mate the customers IT is in Brisbane and the set up is outside we struggling to get smtp email address, password so I tried set up scan to folder while waiting for the email smtp password, then again the customer's CEO running macOs on windows so got me stuck there, unable to install konica minolta utility maybe it doesn't support scan to folders on MacOs I guess?

Alternatively you could use the scan to box with built in SMB file share capability of that device if you are familiar with how that's configured. Scan to email can be difficult if you don't have all of the very specific information needed to set it up properly.

                            Regards.

I think one of the best option you have, given the little information the customer gave you, is to create a new gmail account (using an email address like: customername.scan@gmail.com) and setting it up on the copier.

Everything is free and easy to set up, and you're totally autonomous.

Once you create and setup everything, you'll just have to create the address book with customer's emails.
Naturally, they'll receive scanned files from customername.scan@gmail.com.

Ask your customer if they're okay with that and you'll be done in under 10 minutes.
It can even be a temporary solution, until customer's IT support doesn't give you all the information needed to use their SMTP.

Let me know, if needed, i can write you a step-to-step guide on how to create and set up all you need.

                              Greetings,
                              Chris
