[Misc] "Cleaning in Progress..." ineo+ 250i

    Hello all,
I'm just checking if anyone else has had this issue with last gen ineo+ 250i machines.

Brand new out of the box it will print 1 or 2 pages and then do a "Cleaning in progress" for a couple of minutes, print 1 or 2 pages and again "Cleaning in progress" over and over again. This is only out of tray 1, tray 2 works (prints) perfectly every time, no cleaning.

We have been advised by konica to run up to 2000 pages from tray 1 in service mode "to run the machine in" and this seems to work but surely there is something that can be replaced or 'cleaned' to stop this from happening as it doesn't happen with every new machine and it's a pain in the ass to do during machine setup.

The machines that are affected are all on a version of the latest 'R' firmware and I have tried new belts and drums but to no avail.

Just throwing it out there to see if anyone else has any thoughts?

    Thanks,

There is a drive unit exclusively for t1. It has a magnetic clutch, some one ways and a weird planetary gear assembly in it.

I know of at least two of these being replaced because the gear assembly was cracked and Ive had to replace the clutch on the one I had.

Keeping in mind youve replaced near enough everything else, I would give the drive unit a go.

    Hope this helps

I haven't seen this specific problem in a long time but it was common when the low volume 0i-series were released. Check out the thread linked above, then replace CL10 and CL3.

Thanks for the heads-up! You're right — I remember similar issues popping up with the early 0i-series models. Replacing CL10 and CL3 sounds like a solid move; that’s often where the root of the problem hides. Hopefully, that gets things running smoothly without needing to push 2000 pages just to stabilize

Am I hearing this right, it may be necessary to replace 2 clutches on a brand new machine? How can Kon/Min expect dealers to keep selling their inferior products! And more importantly how to get customers to stay with Kon/Min. Personally if I bought a copier for $5k-$10K and parts had to be replaced on my brand new out of the box copier I would never buy that brand again!

While its displaying cleaning in progress I would mark feed rollers to see if they are spinning maybe some gears too.
Also there is feed retry counter I believe and you can check this also for abnormal values.
The strange thing that throws me out is I never met conditions what, why and when trigger cleaning in progress message on any machine.
