    B&W i-Model Waste Box Squeaks

Has anybody else been dealing with squeaky waste boxes (WX-108) on the B&W i-models that are coming with the machines from the factory? It seems that nearly 3/4s of the B&W machines that we have been getting in have had a waste toner box that squeaks loudly. I'm curious if anybody else has seen this and what their course of action has been. So far we've been replacing the boxes on the machines, but this is far from economical.

This is of course on top of the already squeaky exit units that we have been having to lube right out of the box.

So far we haven't come across any noisy color boxes, only the B&W ones. There isn't any way of taking those apart easily unfortunately.

+1 on that. We have mainly color machines though.
I have to see if mono color WTB can be disassembled like color one.
Overall quality seems to be lower than it used to be... I had strong feeling that if the machine can produce an output it will exit fabric no matter what happens with quality, noise or something else. Maybe half of displays of new machines we installed are so skewed/not centered properly to the point it is almost funny if it wasn't tragic.

With the (almost in the past) supply issues, many WTB were being emptied and re used 2 times or more..These things were not designed for re use and we had a lot of issues with noise, gear breakage..E

Those are brand new machines... there isn't lube on shafts from factory. Maybe if they are full a bit noise can disappear but our was pretty annoying to test that theory.

The issue we are having with squeaking is on new machines, fresh out of the box. Power it up for the first time, and the waste box squeaks like crazy. Definitely can't install a new machine at a customer's site that is squeaking, would look really bad. We end up replacing the new box with another new box. Luckily the replacement boxes we have ordered haven't also been squeaky, though I'm waiting for the day that happens.

Re: B&W i-Model Waste Box Squeaks

Back in the day, when Canon analog machines used not-serviceable drum units, the drum waste augers squeaked like crazy when a new drum was installed (and the built in waste receptacle was empty). We would tell the customer that the waste toner acts like a lubricant to the drum waste components, and within a day it would quiet down. And it did.

I would be hesitant to use a liquid lubricant where toner is collected (you'll make mud/paste on the friction surfaces). Maybe a dry-lube like graphite might be suitable? It wouldn't matter if the lubricant contaminated the waste toner. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I've had to dismantle a few WTB and lube the gears

Waste toner buildup on drum cleaning section bushings of bizhub 215/226 makes squaking noises. Blowing out with canned air solves the problem.

Yes I have also seen this it can get rather loud & annoying the client especially in a quiet office.

I usually just spray a few drop of oil etc around the left drive side on the box that does the trick.

Yea we have had a couple B/W squeaking. As time went by the bottle filled and it went away.
