    Gentlemen

The machine was functioning before I started working on it. I swapped out the df 701 for a feeding issue. Machine unplugged. The feeder was worse than what was on there before so I put the old one back on machine unplugged. Turned on machine. It stayed on the two shark fins running for maybe 5 minutes. I turned off the copier. Checked my connections. Restarted machine, booted up with the error code. I installed the latest firmware. Disconnected hard drive. Did I create the problem by turning off the copier at 2 fins because it was not coming to ready cause corruption of the mfpb?

if the duplex scan board is still mounted it will do that.
if you disconnect feeder you must remove board as well or it thinks it shit the bed.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
    The medication helps though...

Should I try a scan board or take the scan board out to see if it boots? I did try to boot up the machine with the feeder disconnected. I got a c9403 code. When I did a trouble reset with the feeder connected the ce301 code came back.

I would disconnect DF-701 and take dual scan board off and see if machine will boot. Its possible that you caused problems by turning it off at two fins. Any time I have one thats slow booting I give it at least fifteen minutes before turning it off.

If it boots ok with that disconnected I would try and reconnect and update firmware.

It was the feeder. When I disconnected it after I got a warning I was able to boot the machine and print something. I have another feeder I'll put it on to see if it works without codes. That will eliminate the dual scan board. Maybe the black cable that connects to the scan board is bad? No where in the documents I've read does it mention anything a document feeder possibly causing a ce301 code.

Did you try updating firmware with adf hooked up?

Yes. I did that with the feeder hooked up. The latest base firmware version. No go. I was thinking if I had never swapped feeders to begin with I would of never had this problem. This is the fun of working on copiers you never know what could happen.
