Re: Seeking Bizhub c454e firmware
I also agree with sleep mode being turned off.
How much energy does the customer save when YOU are paying for gas to drive there.
solve the problem as power save works well.
gdu-m1 is the latest
good luck

Re: Seeking Bizhub c454e firmware
Revisiting this as I am preparing to do this upgrade finally. (There were a lot of back to back important runs I needed the machine available for, so couldn't risk an issue.)
A)
I have read a few people who ran into issues upgrading the firmware on the c454e that temporarily bricked the machine. I would like to not brick the machine. I'm going from the GDL-M1 to the GDU-M1 which appears to be nine versions newer. Should I be "stepping" this machine through all the others?
Am I overthinking this? (very possible...)
B)
I can't find how to perform the firmware update in the KM manual except to "upload via the web interface." This is fine, but I found TONS of other locations which show upgrades for KM machines just use a FAT32 4-8GB USB stick in the Service Port with the FW extracted to the root of the USB stick (as files/folders.)
C)
On the c454e ... where is the USB service port for a FW update? I'm presuming its the one covered by the black plastic cover with one screw to remove.
Help appreciated. Figured I'd put it on this same thread since it would then be a "whole procedure."
It's hit or miss when loading the most recent F/W in these older models. You can always roll back to earlier F/W if an issue. I've never bricked a "4" series because of loading F/W.
FYI, I serviced over 100 of the "4" series when they were current models and disabled sleep mode on every machine. It is still saving power in the low power mode. If you don't mind going out to customer every few months when it won't come out of the sleep mode then leave it on. New firmware will NOT correct this waking up issue!Leave a comment:

Re: Seeking Bizhub c454e firmware
I'm sorry to hear about that, Synthohol.
Wellp, I figured I'd contribute to see if someone else who might have a copy of any modern firmware like GDT-M1 is more likely to lend a hand.
Great machine, just want to make sure she lives as long as she can.Leave a comment:

Re: Seeking Bizhub c454e firmware
like i suggested, disable sleep totally as it fucks up religiously on konicas. and extend the power save to the max 60m or 240 if there is a bit sw for it.
scan these forums, sleep mode and the 4,8 and i series seems to kill networking all the time. just disable sleep.
that series is like 10 years old and barely keeps up with todays security standards. what used to be 5v is now 3.3v in the i series IIRC so if its energy savings you want, there is your answer.
As far as security, it doesn't really matter - this machine is isolated on its own subnet in a small office and could be swiss cheese and it's not a big deal since only pre-authorized IP addresses can access it. And they're not going to buy anything newer since they're a small nonprofit and it's MOSTLY used as a glorified office printer.
Thanks! I'll keep digging around.Leave a comment:

Re: Seeking Bizhub c454e firmware
Is there a file repository for the firmware? I hate to bother people about firmware that I could just get myself, but I don't seem to be able to find it online.
Much obliged for any assistance.Leave a comment:

just enable the ability to disable sleep in service mode and turn it off in admin mode.
firmware wont make any difference really.Leave a comment:

Seeking Bizhub c454e firmware
I have a BizHub c545e and the firmware is older. I hear that the SLEEP and POWER settings on the most recent firmware sometimes behave better, so I'd like to upgrade.
If anyone has updated firmware and could send to me, would greatly appreciate it.
Here's the report of the current firmware on the system page:
